@kylebennett41964 жыл бұрын
Inge Kvam it’s still extremely original and innovative, to be honest. The note choice Eddie makes is vastly unlike what a modern shredder would do
@craigdoriety97984 жыл бұрын
Saw them on their first tour in 78 in Birmingham, AL. It was a Journey/Montrose/Van Halen concert and they opened. Their first album had just come out and they played all of the songs off of that album in order. Running With the Devil was the only song on the radio at that time. Opening with Eruption had everyone's jaws on the floor. Montrose and Journey were kind of anti-climatic after Van Halen.
@afterburner28694 жыл бұрын
Inge Kvam There may be a lot of shredders around, but they all sound homogeneous. Eddie has a unique sound and style of his own that nobody quite duplicates. When you hear Eddie, you know it’s him. He was just a fast player that really didn't invent any techniques that certain folks like to spread around...
@boostfiend4 жыл бұрын
He doesn't admit to 'inventing' anything. But he did do rhythm and solo work in a band, while writing music... none of which is 'easy'. So, no... he's not "just a fast player". People don't love EVH because of his speed, it's because ... well, you wouldn't understand.

I grew up trying to play eruption and failed miserably time and time again until I got it. Thanks Eddy, for teaching me never to give up.❤️

His playing is raw and brutal. I can tell his hands must be very strong. That’s one of the things that young (and very talented) guitar players in KZbin do not get. Just see the way he plays. It’s not just about nailing “Beat It”. See how grounded and confident he is. He’s like 65 but and yet his playing is fierce.

Its about being so good, you invent a whole new genre of guitar, a new era. It's not about the physical ability to play what he is playing, it's about the invention of it, the wholesomeness. It's about the sound, the music, how it makes you feel. He was one of the best.
@michaelteter7 жыл бұрын

Why quit? Theres only 1 EVH, you'll probably never be as good as him, but use him as motivation. Playing guitar in your room, by yourself is the best form of self conscienceness. You learn alot about yourself. Don't be a quitter! Get back in there and pick up that ax and play away brotha!

I'm so glad I was around to see Van Halen during their early club days in Hollywood back in the 70s and Eddie's playing still give me goose bumps to this day. A living guitar legend indeed. When we saw them play at the whiskey we knew EDDIE and Alex were about to become super stars. I still rock the shit out these guy’s. Can’t tell you how many speakers I have blown up rockin MEAN STREETS and 1984. 1,000,s of $ worth. And those good times were worth every Penny. What a freaking Party we were fortunate to have experienced thru mid 70,s and 80,s in So CAL Can’t believe I am still alive. None of my crew made it into their 50,s. I,m 61 now. I was to young for the FREE love scene , but I got of all the SEX, DRUGS, ROCK and ROLL that SO. CAL had to offer. Wish I could do it again , damn I had fun. ROCK ON !
