DIVING CAYMAN ISLANDS - Devil's Grotto, best shore dive of the Caribbean?

THE DIVE: Time of the day 9:30am - 12:00 pm. Total bottom time 98 min (2 x 80 cu-ft 21% tanks). Water temperature 85F, no currents average depth 40 feet. Overall a fantastic dive with unparalleled visibility. Great marine life, large Tarpons, barracudas and schools of silverside fish. Just a short drive (10-15min) from all major hotels of the 7 mile beach area. Highly recommended.
The Cayman Islands is a self-governing British Overseas Territory, the largest by population, in the western Caribbean Sea. The 264-square-kilometre (102-square-mile) territory comprises the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, which are located to the south of Cuba and northeast of Honduras, between Jamaica and Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The capital city is George Town on Grand Cayman, which is the most populous of the three islands.

I used to live on church street about a block away from Eden Rock. I would wake up, cross the street every morning to snorkel and freedive there. It and Smith's Cove totally ruined me. Back in the 90s there's used to be what was called a "Jewfish" that hung out there sometimes. It's now More properly called Goliath Grouper but i still have the fish id cards with the old name on them. Pretty rare for Grand Cayman at the time. And the Royal Navy certainly sucked at naming things

Best to do this dive with 2, 3 or 4 divers. You really don't want to do this dive from a dive charter boat with 20 divers... Being in the "Conga-Line" after position 4 or 5 you can pretty much guarantee to be swimming through kicked up silt.... IMHO...

Lol … 100% agree We did a total of 4 dives here to film the clips shown on this video. On the first dive I was number 4 in line … pretty much useless footage. The other three dives it was just 2 of us … and it worked out perfectly. Additionally, this site is accessible from the shore, a short swim and you are there, I would highly recommend this approach (your own schedule avoid big crowds) cheers 🙏🏻🙂
