I think she was heading right into the centre of a stronghold they were probably going to attack (and were still in the middle of assessing). That would be my guess on what was going on.

I'm glad to see every battle they fight in DOS2 ends the same way mine did: everything on fire.

I think everyone had that experience. After some point sooner or later everything is burning in every fight. And a little after that its fucking necrofire most of the time. Not all that surprising tho if you have fire spells plus two seperate surfaces that burn/explode once they touch fire plus barrels and arrows plus bombs and molotov cocktails.
