Excellent short form interview with Chrissy on an Australian TV CHANNEL, before she passed. She mentions her idea to wear a school uniform while performing was inspired by Angus Young. She was incredibly shy and the uniform allowed her to put on a “character” while she performed. And her performances were legendary. They were intense, emotive, deep.

I came across your reaction channel a few days ago, enjoy watching and listening to your comments and you do your homework on the person or persons your about to watch and listen to. Chrissy sings what I would call dark music which I love, she delivered them in a way that we had not heard before especially from a female. Miss seeing her on stage she was fabulous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too many of our great performers are no longer with us. The up and coming bands etc for me just do not have what these bands had back in the day. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

This song was off the monkey grip album and movie of the same name. Chrissy was an actress on stage. She became the song. I’ll never forget her in Adelaide on stage swinging an axe and howling out guillotine day. Then she just started bouncing really high all through the audience, it’s was wild. Miss her dearly. I’m an Aussie by the way. Great review too mate.

The bass. The bass drives the narrative, the bass is where the movement is.

The thing to understand about these songs she wrote with Mark McEntee is that she lived the songs while performing them. She wasn't just being theatrical, she was emotionally invested in them and as a result, we as audience members were too. This is a great choice because live, Divinyls were actually this good. The sound here is not doctored, it is just as it was.

Chrissy was always acting on stage and her vocals always part of the act. To get her vibe in just 2 songs I recommend the official videos of I Touch Myself and Pleasure & Pain. The master of in your face shock rock done with an air of innocence. lol

Makes a big difference when a person stops like you did and does a quick look into something. Because this is exactly how you saw it. Artistic channeling of well a person on the wrong side of sanity. Hard life. We have all see them. Having breakdowns.

As always, you are incredibly perceptive and you draw incredibly intelligent conclusions. Chrissy decided to set herself apart from other female performers by trailblazing a monster-style stage persona. She copied Angus Young’s school uniform and styled herself on twisted, bitter, drug addicted ladies of the night. She intended to shock. What you see in this video was one of her early stage antics- if someone left their handbag on the stage she would take it and go through it, throwing tampons around and smearing their lipsticks / makeup all over herself. Many people found her terrifying and she continued the monster persona backstage and in front of interviewers. Apparently in private she was very lady-like, sweet and warm but didn’t want that image to get out. Her mother came from a wealthy family and her father didn’t. Her family socio economic status was poor so her mother had her modelling from the age of three so she was able to have clothes and nice things she wanted. She has always been attractive. She has an educated and beautiful speaking voice and a great sense of drama- perhaps from her Mum or her years as a model and as an actor in live theatre. When she met lead guitarist Mark McEntee, she was living in an environment of Ladies of the Night. The two formed a romantic relationship which had its foundation in drugs and domestic violence as is reflected in some of their songs, most notably “Pleasure & Pain”. The Divinyls initially marketed themselves as punk rock (as did AC/DC- there are old gig posters to prove this fact) at the time. The song “Boys in Town” is a great representation of their punk rock phase. Happy rabbit holing, Tex! 😃

@@Texas_Love100% she was so smart, so gentle and so articulate away from the stage but on it she was a force of nature that was impossible not to want and seemingly dangerous to want to possess. She was a trailblazer and carved her name into the wall of the temple Australian Rock Legends giving not a single f*ck about her detractors. We love her and miss her dearly. Whlie you are checking out our female rock stars check out Suze De Marchi of the Baby Animals (Rush You and Painless off their debut album), Kate Csberano (Brave and Bedroom Eyes), Grace Knight from Eurogliders (Heaven must be there), Wendy Matthews (The Day You Went Away) and Gyan (Wait) Enjoy
