Miss Chrissy Amphlett was often said to be a wildcat onstage with her intense performances. But the thing to understand about her performances was that she became the character in every song she sang. Offstage she was quite shy, even demure, though always assured. She developed this way of performing because she was very nervous at the start of her career but as she grew as a performer and singer, she was able to control her audiences with a rock intensity seldom seen. Best frontperson I ever saw, better than Mick Jagger or most anyone else. Maybe Freddy Mercury or Bon Scott are her equals. Chrissy wasn't just sexy but rivetingly beautiful, and she had that hot husky voice to go with it. In the early 90s she was diagnosed with MS and then she got breast cancer. Unfortunately she could not treat her cancer with chemotherapy and radiotherapy properly because of her MS, a disease that strips the nerves of their protective layer. It was truly sad but like the characters she sang about, she fought bravely to the end. Much respect to her, still a powerful woman and role model to this day, and fondly remembered by all who were lucky to witness her unique and intense performances.

oh I did nt know the details of her illness I knew she was sick but not that early ...poor Chrissy I am so glad we have some live performances of her thank you for sharing
@stevegordon84742 жыл бұрын
@@RaeZoladawn777 I wish more Divinyls' shows had been filmed as they were a great live act, intense, loud, and spontaneous. To have 2 serious diseases was nothing less than tragic but Chrissy can be proud of the way she conducted herself in the face of them. She was the same way as a singer and artist: unflinchingly brave. I'm sure she would be pleased to know that people like you miss her, Rae.

I discovered them late in life,my drummer had a wild assortment of c ds he'd bring over and we'd listen to an old c d player and try and get inspired. I had to be two different people, one the engineer and tape specialist the other the rhyth.m guitarist then the other the lead guitarist. But sobriety is soon much better! WE NEEDED A THIRD MEMBER IN OUR BAND BUT IT NEVER GOT OFF THE GROUND BECAUSE WE WERE ALLWAYS DRUNK. The thing I like about divinely is there sense of rhythm, their lead singer was the metronome, she was very rhythmic and talked to the audience and did not talk down to them, she brought them to meet the band. She was not a premadonna she was alittle humming bird who could sing I shall miss her entirely.😢

The intro to that first song is real close to either a Stones or Beatles song , not sure if its I can't get no or Day Tripper, they switched the cord sequence just a bit. Oasis did it with a Burt Bacharach song . On Halfway around the World they reversed the cords from This guys in love with You. Got it , its Jumpin Jack Flash
