He abandoned her during her pregnancy and then returned to be a part of his daughter's life AFTER the results of the paternity test. He literally does NOT seem to want to marry this woman, but he DOES want his daughter to have a 2 parent home. He's not going to stand in Judge Toler's court and admit that he ONLY wants to co-parent, but that's exactly what his body language said.

He loves her but he can fall in love with her _ if she and her feminine ego allow for it to happen. Really, the judge should be glad that he couldn’t stand up there and lie. But, to his credit, he wants to make a sincere effort to make an honest woman out of her and assuage the hurt and embarrassment she went through. He also was honest in wanting a DNA test. If she’s smart, and isn’t looking to take revenge on him (because she looks very capable of that behavior), she can have a very happy life with him and their offspring. If she’s wise...

Sugar Plum People need to stop pretending that this doesn’t happen often. A whole lot of marriages of Christians happened just this way_shotgun or marriage after baby was born. That doesn’t make them not be Christian. Furthermore, no culture or religion that I know of, and I study, approves of or encourages having babies without being married. Christians (or Jews or Muslims) didn’t invent or institute marriage. The concept and societal more existed long before any of them came into existence. And many married women had abortions before finally bring married, if they were to be honest. Unfortunately, most people worry more about how society sees them than how their god views them.

Oh God.. Lady, why would you want this woman to be a lonely single mother? Marriages aren't perfect, but the grass IS NOT greener on the other side. This woman is grossly overweight, getting old with an average face. Men aren't checking for old, overweight single mothers, okay? Her man isn't perfect but she should make the best of her relationship. She should start by eating right and hitting the gym.

Doesn't sound like the daughter needs love though... It's HER that's looking in the wrong places for it... She is the one that's more into him than he is with her... Sure they had a child, but he seems to care for his kid... She has just as much blame because she fell for him and had his seed... I'm pretty sure he didn't rape her, so that's how the kid got here... She just needs to make better decisions... And maybe STOP looking for love, and focus on working on herself to be a better role model for her child... Instead of pointing the finger and playing victim... His only wrong was having a kid with someone that was just "benefits"... It was a mistake on his part that should've never happened because of the destruction it's causing now... But SHE chose to do the rest...

They agreed to have a mutual sexual relationship but he’s taking advantage/using her? I don’t understand that form of thinking from women you want to have a FWB relationship with someone. Then if you have feelings for the other you expect the person feel the same or want more. If the person doesn’t have mutual feelings now the other person is advantage or hurting you. No you put yourself in a situation and you just don’t like that the other person doesn’t want you more past sex.

Spiritually is just one aspect of humanity. Going to church doesn't fix poor self-esteem or automatically instill the values that should've been taught by parents. Becoming a whole person takes work and effort...counseling for some.

@Hang Tyme I’m afraid he damaged the relationship..with his desertion while she was pregnant.. so all of what you said might suffice , and then some..do you not listen to the judge ? She even said he needs to do more, give her passion.. what ever it takes .. I agree with the judge he sees the child as part of himself so he has no problem showing it love .. Toller said if he can love his partner and not see her just as a mother and filling the partner roll things would be better ( add libbing here ).. he didn’t even understand what is partner was saying even the judge said he doesn’t get it..it’s not what she was saying .. not saying he’s trash ..but he is a worry .. she said she’s worried that in 5-10 years after a few more kids , a bit more weight would he move on .. all he did was sing his “ I pay the bills etc” that’s not what concerns her.. his fidelity.. him loving her no matter what happens .. he left her when she was pregnant..didn’t want the child .. he has a lot of repairing to do..I can understand her fear .. if he can leave at a most important time in a woman’s life ..pregnancy and birth .. what other boundaries is he willing to cross. Even the judge told him to woo her ..that’s what she needs as well.

@Kathy Marie -- I'm hearing you as best as I can, but you still didn't give a tangible, concrete answer as to what he can do. If you listen to the whole video, the girlfriend never even said he was doing anything wrong. As a matter of fact, she gave him 100% praise. "Proving" that he'd still love her and the family life in 5 years is akin to "proving" to a potential employer that he won't shoot up the place in the future if they give him a job. I could comment on his absence during the pregnancy (in which he was wrong), but it would delve too much into the different ways men deal with unwanted pregnancies (abandonment) vs how women deal with them (abortion, adoption). We'll agree to disagree, but I luv ya still.

Hang Tyme No, I didn’t. I don’t think he’s trash. If that were the case, his heart wouldn’t have yielded in the reality of his baby girl. The rub for the woman is that she feels that not only does he love their baby more than he loves her, but that he loves her BECAUSE of the baby, that without the reality of the child, he would have never chosen her. Perhaps that’s true; but he wants to put his all in. She has the chance to be with the love of her life and have him fall in love her or go on to find another man and just co-parent. She has to be honest about the situation. And not use marriage to punish him...

Im taking into consideration that they were young. I hate to break it to y’all but there are a bunch of young people doing the nasty in church they just haven’t been found out yet. When you mix being young, in church, not married and the pressures of bringing life into the world, ANYBODY would be scared. The difference is the men have time to process their feelings since they aren’t the ones bearing the physical consequences whereas the women have no choice but to deal with it as soon as the pregnancy test come back positive and they are being reminded of their sin every month for 10 whole months. Maybe she has right to be concerned but if I were her, I would count my blessings that I have a baby daddy who stepped up to the plate and would do anything for his daughter. Many women all over won’t ever have that testimony.

@@asabifatosin1150 That's exactly right. They both are responsible for the mess they are in, but their daughter is a blessing. Prayerfully they will both be a blessing to their daughter. They are not in love with each other. The judge was right, it still could work out for them, IF they BOTH want it to work. She said she feels he is ready and stepping up to be in the father role, now that he knows he IS the father, but she doesn't feel the he is 100% into her, so she already knows that. She wants assurances of what he might do 5 or 10 years down the road. No marriage is guaranteed of what might happen 10 years down the road. But if she has that much doubt NOW and in her heart of hearts, she does not feel secure now, then the judge is right; it's not the time for her to consider marrying him. She said herself, he seems more in love with "the idea of marriage and the perfect family" than he seem in love with her! Some men do think that way. More often women think that way, back in the day we were taught as little girls that we would get married, have children, be the perfect little wife and mother, and to just wait until our Prince Charming comes along, and boom everything falls in place. As the judge said, back in the day, a lot of times (even in the US) people were "put together" or it was assumed that this young man and young woman would "end up getting married" because maybe they grew up together, their parents were friends, they went to the same little church or school, or whatever, and respected each other, and maybe loved each other; and if they were lucky they even fell "in love" somewhere down the road, and if not, at least they had some level of mutual love for each other and they raised their family and that was that! Back them some women purposely got pregnant by a guy they liked because if their parents found out they ended up having a "shotgun wedding" and they could "trap" the man they wanted. But being forced to marry someone does NOT suddenly make them love and be in love with you! It never did and it never will. If this lady does not feel the love and respect she needs and deserves (he abandoned her while she was carrying HIS child, really??), then she is better off just co-parenting her daughter and waiting for the man that will truly love her for who she is and is the husband she deserves.

I actually agree with you. I also took into consideration that they were young. We can’t run away or hide from it.

@MARJAN I agree with the part that he shouldn't have abandoned her. I know he mentioned that he wasn't sure if his daughter was his based off their relationship, but at the same time, I feel like he could have at least checked in to see how she was (at a mimumum). But at the same time, men end up in situations where they try to step up and they realize that the kids isn't theirs, only to find that he is still the legal father, so I can understand why someone who isn't sure would keep their distance.

IF they can both do that, it will benefit their daughter for they will both do what's best for her and still show mutual respect to each other. That's best for the child. But to get married knowing they are not on the same page about how they feel towards each other, would only cause more strife, mistrust, and probably end in a messy divorce anyway, and THAT would NOT benefit their daughter...or them.
