DIY 1.4KWh Long-Range All Terrain Electric Skateboard Skatepacking/Touring Build List

Skatepacking--or electric longboard touring, if you want to be fancy--is the act of backpacking on an electric skateboard. Similar to Bikepacking, except on an esk8! In this video, I go over the parts list for my long range, 50+ km range build for under $2,000 CAD. This is the first of an ongoing series where I build my long range board for future skatepacking trip videos at places like the COLT (Central Ontario Loop Trail), and eventually, the Trans Canada Trail!

I built a similar board except I used the flipsky 4.2 vesc and two Milwaukee m18 batteries in series so you can separate them for faster charging and carry spares to swap when needed

Fiy you cant just plus the watts og the motors to get the usage watts. There is a calculation that makes it lesser. Cant remember it just remember when making

Need a solar backpack for charging on the move bro. Ima build a felxi panel into my pack and have 2 plug n play pelican packs

I don't think it works like you think. You need to be facing dead on to the sun, and in reality that panel will 1) serve as a massive drag brake and 2) be extremely inefficient. If you do bring solar for charging, your best to take a zero day to spend it charging up your battery.

How's the flipsky motor and esc doing? I've had really poor luck with their FESC 6.6 and only have used torqueboards' 170kv 6380, which I love, and I'm at the edge of the "off road pit". Let me know if you believe I can trust the flipsky gear listed. Thanks!

Actually, I wound up going with a different build for now (street build instead of AT) using Ownboard parts. So I've yet to put flipsky stuff through their paces, so I can't give it the Mike in the Woods seal of approval yet :(

Not sure at this point. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm currently 10% funded the base cost of the build

I'm not sure what calculator you are using for your batteries but 11p on a 3 Ah cell is 33 Ah total. If you are going to charge from empty to full with only a 4 amp charger that's going to take over 8 hours. This is why in my opinion high capacity boards should be on lipo packs as you can charge them at 1c or higher. Meaning if you have a high enough amp charger the time goes down to an hour.
