I made this but changed the final design a little. I used more ornate molding on the end panels and around the top. I also used solid poplar drawer faces with a routed detail around the edges. Great plans

Great project Brad! If you're having trouble with edge banding one trick I learnt whilst working in a cabinet makers shop is not to use a razor blade but to use a piece of steel that has a sharp 90 degree edge on it. Simply hold the steel flush to the plywood your edge banding and push down, working your way along the edge. Hope this makes sense, if not i'll show it in my next video but its really quick, and theres no risk of cutting into your face veneer :)

Hmm, would love to see it

Again beautiful work Brad nice job. I love the dresser my wife wants my to build her a complete bedroom set. Dresser and mirror and another taller dresser and 2 nightstands. I am just about to finish up a pantry for our kitchen. The drawers have been a headache because I put a face frame that made me put in 3/4inch stretchers to allow the drawers to be mounted. But watching you build this I'll make sure to do it with the method you used then the one I used.
@Fixthisbuildthat6 жыл бұрын
I considered face frames, but this way is much easier and clear. Good luck!

Nice tip! They sell an edge banding trimmer tool as well that takes the guesswork out for about $20. I've trimmed before and took a little chip out or was left with a wavy edge doing it with a razor blade, only slightly stress inducing!

Great video as always. I think you might run into some gaps/cracks in the solid wood mitres on the top, once the wood drys out. But then again it might not happen, and is an easy fix anyways.
@Fixthisbuildthat6 жыл бұрын
I'd assume since they are anchored on the edge to the plywood that any shrinkage would occur towards the plywood, thus actually pulling them tighter. But we'll just see how it goes :) Thanks!

I've been an amateur woodworker for about six or seven years, but have never used plywood for anything other than putting on windows at my parents house before hurricanes. For anyone else who might not know, plywood that is labeled as 3/4 in the store is not actually 3/4! They're 1/16 of an inch less than 3/4 in. I'm about 2/3 done building this, and this has really turned into a bit of an issue. As my outer boards are true 1.5x1.5s. Word to the wise, if anyone is going to build this, trim your outer 2x2s to NOT be 1.5x1.5, but instead 1 and 3/8 x 1 and 3/8. It will save you a big headache as it's being built, and will allow your inside to be flush with the plywood.

Thank you for this tutorial. It's just what I needed to make a dresser for my Daughter in law. I purchased your plans and have started the build. However, she doesn't want it painted but rather wants the wood look proably a walnut stain. Should I sand as I go, or assembled and hand sand after completed assembly. I'm using select pine and sanded plywood which is pretty smooth already but wanted to know when the final sanding should be done.
