for those who are planning on recreating this dont cut the balance leads they have the same resistance from the factory so that the cells will charge evenly on the same phase as other cells and by cutting the balance leads you are actualy reducing the balancing capabilities of your bms

@40amp. You will not likely see much of an increase over the 35-40amp BMS in most stock ebike batteries. Higher quality batteries can have an output of around 60amp. And really great batteries can put out 100amp and up. Depending on the BMS installed. Some hotrodders use 200a BMS and run 15-18kw with very large batteries able to sustain the current draw. The only increase in performance you would see is if you are increasing voltage from the stock battery. Higher volts. Higher rpm. Higher top speed or increased capacity for the ability to sustain watts and amp draw on the battery when pulling fatt watts with alot of amps. the battery bms and controller are your limiting factors. The controller can only take what the battery can provide. You could have a bac2000 which can go up to 200a and be using a battery with a 40a BMS. The controller will only feed the motor 40a. Limited by the battery's BMS. So other than the cells maybe being more stable. Or efficient. Being lipo4 and not Li ion. I do not see a significant increase in power over stock ebike batteries on your average ebike or pedal assist bike. Aswell due to speed restrictions for retail bikes. Not many come with a BMS higher than 40a. An off-road high power ebike will come standard with a more capable BMS. Like a Sur Ron or talaria or stealth. However popular. They are not mainstream sales. They are for the offroader or hotrodders. And come with a slamming pricetag. Your average pedal assist ebike (in Canada) is limited to 32kph (approx 20mph) because of that the need to install a BMS that will allow more current to flow is unnecessary as they have to abide by laws. The point of generally building a battery yourself is a) to do it cheaper b) build a custom battery for fitment on your bike c) need more power. Build battery with more capacity and more amp ability lol. Depending on what you're building. If you're utilizing a 1000-1500w motor building a Sunday cruiser You don't likely need 80a+ or a pack that's 40ah. If you're trying to utilize anything above 5-8kw. You're going to want that punch the amps can deliver. With high capacity to sustain the watts be using
