How sweet of your parents to help you. My mom and dad did the same for me; especially my dad. He would come over to my house and help me garden. I miss him so much. You’re making great memories with your parents. Love your videos you are the sweetest.

Just stumbled upon this video - Save your evergreen needle mulch! Use it where ever you use bark mulch. Use it in/on your tree rings or, the space around your tree trunks younkeep, you keep, of grass. Use it as a winter cover for the dirt around your berries especially blue berries, raspberries, and domesticated black berry cultivars. - As you add salt to your driveway, be careful of potential salt build-ups.

Pine needles make a great mulch for strawberries. They are acidic, which the berries love, and light, which seems to work better for strawberries, AND the sharp point of the needles discourages slugs!

I use the boiling water from water bath canning and hit the weeds in areas where I don’t want the salt or vinegar to change my soil ph. Works like a charm every time!

I just love your parents!!! My dad would never come over or offer to help, it's just not who he was. My mom helped me when I was 1st diagnosed and stayed with me for 2mths. She cleaned and cooked, mostly she said because she was bored and I was laid up on the sofa with a huge surgical wound on my stomach. She's 82 now and I'm still laid up. It's just heart warming watching your parents help you. I would love to hug them and just say thank you to them for giving you such great memories!!! So Blessed!!!

I use a similar mixture except I use Epsom salt and I find blue dawn has been the most effective soap. I've been using it to take out some volunteer trees, it's slow but working!

Just started watching you and subscribed. You have so much energy. I watch to get my old bones motivated. How sweet of your parents to come help. Such a joy to help our grown children when we can. Save those pine needles.. I use them to cover beds in the winter and for walkways. Some people actually pay good money for pine needle bundles to use in their flower gardens as mulch. Waste no want not. I bless you. Love watching you.

Just a tip to make it easier. Mix the salt with water before you put the vinegar in. The vinegar will inhibit the salts ability to break the bonds that allow it to dissolve. Once it has you can add the vinegar...not sure if the soap helps or hurts though...I would think help but idk.

making this weed killer today- hoping it works between pavers - fingers crossed--- hate using chemicals because we are a horse farm =but anyone with pavers on the walkways knows my love/hate relationship with them esp on a farm where we have acres of stuff blowing around and reseeding between every paver lol wish me luck

UPDATE: made some in 32 oz bottle- just to try- our pool pavers drive me crazy because we live on a hay farm- always something seeding itself between the pavers- hate using chemicals- gave this a try- and it worked- even on some huge weeds- did early in the morning so the sun could beat on it- buying a new large sprayer so that it is free from chemicals- will be spraying the entire pool area this weekend- and all the stone areas I have my planters on- Thanks for this great recipe

You may want to research the toxicity levels of the ingredients used, which are, in fact, chemicals. They are actually much higher than Round-up and many other commercial seed killers. This mixture will kill the surface portion of the plant but not the root.

Commercial organic farmers use chemicals they just don't use the same chemicals that a non organic farm uses. People have the misconception that organic farming uses no pesticides and that just isn't the case. Organic is also no better for you than regular except you pay more money. If you wash your fruits and vegetables is no problem. I will try your mixture next summer.:-)

You can... but you really have to use it sparingly. Salt stays in the soil and could build up to levels that make it impossible to grow anything if you use that stuff all the time. Its best to save it for only your most stubborn weeds and never use it for large patches of them. Some people use epsom salts instead of salt in this recipe. I can't offer any information on that though as I haven't used or researched it myself. Pouring boiling water on weeds works quite well without damaging your soil. If you have one of those huge turkey deep fryers, everyone was buying a few years ago, that works great for boiling enough water to actually make a dent in your weeds. It won't kill the roots if you do it while the soil is still cold so it's best to wait until at least late spring.
