You dont need vinegar, the chemical in the glue, joint compound and cement is more than enough to be toxic to bugs and you can use donlop wood glue. I use to add cement to my papermache clay over 6 years ago to form a putty to do fine details or thin pieces on a sculpture. I tried on little samples before doing this and tested them by soaking a couple of days in water they all held up well. I wont say that I discovered the idea as I'm sure unknown people have been doing this probably for other purposes for a long time now.👍🏼

Just something you should know. Vinegar neutralizes the hardening effect of Portland cement. You should try a batch minus the vinegar it should harden better

First and foremost, thank you. About 15 years ago I first started looking into different ways to combine Cement and art. But for a variety of reasons never did anything till a couple years ago with mixed results. Then one day, there you were and everything (with cement ) has changed for me. Thanks to you, I now succeed more often than fail. I do have a question...is the TP you use 1 ply or 2?

I like your work and many good ideas, but I am looking for a weather proof clay recipe. There is a recipe that Johnie has on her sight, that she tested outside and it has held up for at least one year now. She used 2/3 cup of Portland cement mortar, not concrete. 1/2 cup of PVA Elmers Glue All..not school glue. And 1/2 cup of wet toilet paper. She made medium size toad sculpture over a form and it worked great. She sealed it with a clear enamal..spray… She says it is all experimental, although so far her sculpture has held up in snow and rain. Look her up ..ULTIMATE PAPER MACHE…experimental outdoor paper mache clay. I have not tried it yet, but plan to and May do a video on this as well. God Bless and keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing.

Do you use a mold release? If you are interested in making your own molds out of cheap 100% silicone caulking I highly recommend watching Geosubstainable… I tried it on a Harley Davidson rubber front door mat…( I paid too much for it, but it is cool ! ) don’t feel bad now because I made a concrete mat out of the mold for in front of our wood shop. I did have to piece together cardboard to fit it in to get how thick I wanted it. I also learned that from one of his videos. So much cheaper than buying molds or mold kits to make molds. It is an older video. Works great.

Good morning. If you are adhering cement clay to terracotta you will want to add white glue or cement bonding agent to the cement and brush it on the terracotta pot. You will also want to seal the pot inside so when you water your plant the moisture won't seep through and damage your art. By the way don't use this clay recipe in this video. use this one 😊 Let me know how it goes😊 Papercrete Recipe 1 c damp toilet paper pulp squeeze out most of the water 1/4 c white glue 1/2 c versabond thinset 1/2 cup portland cement Mix together to the consistency you want thinner for spreading stiffer for modeling

Experimente!

Clay Recipe 1/3c portland cement 1/3 c Thinset Tile adhesive 1/3 c white glue Knead with more portland cement if you want a stiffer clay. Also I am from Missouri and transplanted to Arizona. In the winter you get snow and ice. Your cement art will absorb water and then when it freezes it will crack. I also keep mine out of the hot hot direct sun.

Hello Ralph, This recipe has not proven to be water proof. However in my video Hand Sculpted Chicken the plaster of Paris clay I use is working well. The chicken I made has sat in my yard for about 18 months through monsoons and my water sprinklers and AZ heat. He is sitting in a mostly shady spot in my garden. Let me know if this helps.😊

I had written down a recipe for clay from another video of Venna's, and I wondered if it was better than this recipe here, or the same. It is 1/3 cup of Portland cement, 1/3 cup of thin set tile adhesive, and 1/3 cup of white glue. I've already purchased all of the ingredients for it, so, I don't want to buy any new ingredients if the other recipe is good.

@@VennasNature Is there anything about the old recipe that gave you any trouble? Or did it work out great in the long run? I guess that I'll try the old recipe since I already have everything. I would have to buy the joint compound to try the new recipe, and use toilet paper, which isn't cheap, unless you use very little.

Hello Linda, Thank you for checking in. No it is not completely waterproof. I will be posting a new video about it soon. This recipe is waterproof it is on the pinecone gnome video Cemental clay for one Gnome 5 squares toilet paper 1/4 c Elmer's glue all 1/4 tsp dish soap mix until tissue turns to fibers add and stir 1/2 c cemental a little portland cement for kneading if needed Turn out on plastic covered table and knead in portland cement until you have the consistency you want.

@@VennasNature can you sub portland cement for cementall?
@VennasNature
@VennasNature 2 жыл бұрын
@@ACryin_Shame Hello Cryin Shame. Thank you for your question. Cemental is not the same as portland cement. there is portland cement in cenental. Cenental as other materials along with the portland cement such as fine sand being the agate to give strength to the portland cement. You probably could use cenental instead of portland cement. This will change the texture of the finished clay and it will set extremely fast so make small batches. Experiment and let me know. 😊

This clay is not waterproof on it's own. But if you use a sealer it would be ok on a patio out of the weather. My most recent video with the Diy Gnome house the clay recipe is 100% Water proof. I equal parts Portland cement and thinset and add white glue until it comes together to make a clay. The instructions and recipe is on the video DIY Cement Gnome House and another one is DIY Cement Gnome. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for viewing.
