I can't wait to make a pair of these for my front yard. I never tried this type of project, but it looks like fun. Yes, if a small group of chickens are "hand raised" and get used to their names and being picked up, they listen. It goes for other animals too. We had 15 head of cattle, 5 sheep, including a Big Horn, 4 goats and 15 chickens- all named. We added a Banty rooster that belonged to my neighbor. He would try to disappear if he heard the neighbor's car or truck coming past. He hid in the barn behind my bull calf, when the neighbor came over, so I never gave him back. He used to sit on my daughter's shoulder when she did chores. I learned a lot from my animals. All were like my 10 kids, and were treated as part of the family.

About 8 years ago…hollow and made from cheap resin/plaster…the hat got hit with a golf ball and had a hole the size of a tennis ball. I fix it with drywall mesh and plaster of Paris. Still holding fine and I live in Western Washington we have 4 true seasons. Rain, Drought, More Rain, snow and 2 years ago the worst ice storm we ever had. Hello Mary. I am sorry for the delay. I have been working at my real job. Lol I also just adopted my 8yr old grandson. My life is not my own any more...lol I do not know why your clay is not setting. I love your chicken! I want to make one like it and bought some of the things like Elmer’s glue, plaster of Paris and the cloths to put on the ball. Problem I had was when I mixed the glue and plaster of Paris (to make the head etc) it was soooo gooey I couldn’t shape it into anything let alone get it off my gloves. I did use Vaseline like you said and measured the amount according to your recipe. Why didn’t it come out like yours?

Great video!! I have a question for you. I teach clay sculpting in local elementary schools in an afterschool program that I started a couple years back. I am absolutely amazed by the creativity that is unleashed when kids kids get their hands on a ball of clay. I have been using an air dry clay called Mexo dry that is sold by Claypeople. My experience is that it’s that it’s a great to work with however the sculptures are fragile. From your videos and how you mix your own papier-mâché clay I am wondering if you’ve done any experimentation with air dry clay by adding either glue and or wall joint compound and if it made the sculptures crack proof. I like the idea of teaching papier-mâché to kids as well however I feel that air dry clay allows them to build solid statues/ figures that papier-mâché wouldn’t do. I would appreciate any help guidance you can provide.
@VennasNature2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for your question. I totally agree with you about creating opportunities for children to create and be expressive through art. I am not an expert at paper mache. I use cement in a paper mache method and this chicken is coveted in plaster of Paris and glue clay. Of course it sets too quickly for children to use. Joni here on KZbin Ultimate Paper Mache is an expert on paper mache clay. Joni may be able to give you the answers you need. By the way I looked at your website you have beautiful art work. I covered the entire cement ball with the plaster. However if you add another later of the cement to the ball and make it smooth you probably could just use the plaster for the wings , tail and head. @VennasNature2 жыл бұрын
Hello Regina, Thank you for your kind comments. Thank you for viewing. Putting the clay in a baggie won't help much, it does not set just because it gets dry. We were driving in the mountains of Utah traveling to see our new grandbaby yesterday😊 Are you asking me if you can make the entire chicken from mortar? Yes you can. You will need to make small batches that are a clay consistency. You will need to make sure you work in sections meaning make sure the first layer is set (maybe not dry) But set so it can support the next layer. If that makes sense. The reason I am using plaster of Paris and glue is because it gives me very smooth finish. The mortar mix has sand in it so the finished texture will be a little coarse but you can sand it. I hope this helps😄 Where are you from? I am interested in where subscribers are from😊 Also you can message me at vennasnature on Instagram and show me your creations I am very interested😊 Have a great day creating😊

Please don't say fast set cement. Picture of package and name. It's so frustrating. Unfortunately, you jumped ahead and skipped over armeture for head and collar.
@VennasNature5 ай бұрын
@@paulinehunt4069 You can use foil if you like for the head but since the plaster and glue mixture sets up so quick you don't really need the foil. The collar is just the plaster clay as well as the wings and tail feathers. I am sorry for any confusion. Thank you for the feedback and questions good luck and have fun😁

@21:45 she explained the process. She shaped aluminum foil and glued to body, covered with Plaster of Paris. I realize your comment is a couple years ago, however I hope this helps if you try to do a project as how to form that 3D image. A lot of great tips in her videos! Happy crafting 😊

Schade, dass sie soviel spricht das nicht nötig ist, und sich mehr zeigt als ihre Arbeit wie es Andere tun.

Hello😁 I used the clay to shape the feet the way I wanted and put a hole in the center to thread onto the leather strap. I would love to see your creation😁 Have fun
