Tip for patching holes from the hardware: take round bamboo stick from a sushi restaurant. It is perfect size and you glue it in the hole, cut it to size. You are ready to drill a new hole even if it is close enough to touch old one. Fibers of bamboo are so dense that they don't fall apart. It is good for replacing room door hinges also.

Great idea! I've also just used wooden toothpicks and you put some wood glue on them and stuff as many as you can in the hole. Once the glue dries, you snap off the ends sticking out. Little more of a janky approach, but it works and it's been a lifesaver in many instances in diy home stuff.
@ukomdesign
@ukomdesign 3 жыл бұрын
@@emmaferrin6815 Yes. They are made of bamboo too. It is good when you don't see them. If you have to close a hole where you will still see it then you use a stick.

I just love the results. I was hoping you would paint the walls cuz you would end up with a clean slate and not the previous owners paint. You said they were 25 years of paint. I did this, sort of, to two bathrooms including hanging wall paper top to bottom. I cried a few days .🙁 But I finished it after stepping away for a few days. Would I do it again? NO!!!! But I love the rooms. You and your hubby really did a great job. Congradulation! 🚽🛁🪣🪜🔩

Absolutely love the bathroom makeover. It turned out beautiful and not overdone. I wasn’t sure about the cool blue paint color on the cabinets because the Formica is a warm color, but the warm color of the hardware brought it together perfectly. It was so much fun to see this, thanks for sharing this video.

It’s amazing, when you change stuff in your house, how many things you can find that were previously done incorrectly. We just replaced our stove and microwave, and were told it was a miracle our house didn’t burn down, because of how the old ones were installed!

I love the dark blue cabinets! This was great inspiration for me, I started to do this to my bathroom last year and stopped mid-project because it was looking worse and I was upset with myself. I also took the old shower doors down and love it but the vanity was an epic fail. I am also dealing with an old blue tub and toilet that are original to the house, super hard to decorate around. I'm going to start over and hope my 2nd try goes better since I no longer trust Pinterest tips.

Love what you've done! Not my taste, but what an improvment. It's fun to see how the little things add up. Love the white walls and the little pieces of decor that bring it all together. Someone else can correct me, but I would think carefully about the freestanding tub. I know HGTV says they "save space" but we are building a new construction and the only space it saved was the "box" around it which is a few inches. And no one really talks about whether they are a pain to clean around. I would think they would be, especially in a corner like that. There are lots of ways to modernize the box around your tub without going to free standing route. It's not like you are ever going to have space to walk around that free standing tub.

Your bathroom looks great!!! Something else you sould do is to change out your faucets on your sinks and that would make it look even better Natalie. They dont vost that much more and would make a huge difference in there do it on the same finish thats on your knobs and pulls onn your cabinets or do it in matte black like in your accessories!! That makes a huge difference in your bathroom. Just a thought to consider 😃😃

Depending on your timeline and budget for replacing the counters, you may be able to get them reglazed to white. Maybe the formica cant getglazed but the tile edging could. My parents had a tile tub reglazed and it turned out great and was very cost effective.

I too am in the middle of an en-suite bathroom renovation. We are making it as Victorian as possible including an old claw foot tub we’re refinishing ourselves. Three months later and we’re almost there, floor tiled, shower tiled, wainscoting put on and painted, just a few fixtures and wall paint to go, and the most important thing the tub! We did add a shower door. I wanted to add that they do make some really streamline shower doors these days if you ever decide to add one on again. I prefer the glass as it opens the room and displays the tile! Your bathroom turned out beautiful, and I’m almost envious of your corner tub, as it looks like a nice place to hang out! Great job Natalie! I’ve been following you during my ( actual) minimalist journey, although it’s hard with home renovations. It makes you feel like clutter adds rather than disappearing!

We built our home in 1999 and we had the oak cabinets and had put up boarder in a couple of rooms. Even wallpaper in one room. We have been updating and renovating our home a bit at a time. I told my husband to never let me put wallpaper up ever again, lol. We also had the same light fixtures in the bathrooms. They have been replaced. Styles are ever changing. Painting cabinets is a great way to save money, that is for sure. Doing it yourself helps you appreciate the outcome. Great job! It looks great!

Hello Natalie I just found your channel. I watched a couple chatty videos as well after this one and I just want you to know it warms my heart to see another Christian live with grace. My husband and I bought our 12 acre farm this last year and are renovating it and starting our homestead. We are LOVING the slower pace of life and being close to family (we used to live 3 hours away). After moving last year we were able to live with my parents for 6 months (after having lived in various states and countries for the last 18 years) while our house contract was going through. Then on January 3 my dad passed unexpectedly and we got to fully see Gods plan in having us close. We got to be there with my mom and help her daily. God was definitely leading us even though we didn’t know why. Although we rushed to get the main part of the house livable for our family we are taking our time like you are to do other projects both inside and out and we are enjoying the process. God bless you on y’all’s journey. I look forward to seeing more

I loved this video! This kind of project is more relatable for most people. I think a kitchen renovation would be SO AWESOME, but that kind of project comes with such a big price tag that it's cost prohibitive for most of us. I'm doing my online research to get ready for a bathroom re-do. I love that blue color on the vanities! I thought I needed a new vanity, but decided a paint job with a new sink and faucet will be just fine instead. The saved money on just painting the existing vanity will cover the cost for a re-do in my husband's bathroom as well! What a great surprise! He's not too thrilled, but that's OK. I think I can manage by myself. Great job! Your bathroom looks just BEAUTIFUL!

For new paint projects in the house, I also enjoy using house paint already purchased, and in use in other rooms. That way if I want to pull any decor from one room into another, it already works color-wise. In a bedroom and bathroom, I took the 2 main colors and 2 accent colors I used in the rest of my home and rotated where they went as far as wall and ceiling, and it turned out great. Walking from one room to another transitions seamlessly. All your hard work paid off! Beautiful!

It was nice before and I'm sure the previous owners enjoyed it but there is nothing like making it your own. The white walls brightened the whole room and the dark cabinets, gorgeous! I found some black matte bathroom faucets on Amazon for a decent price.. I think I got them for $40 each. I know you probably have already looked but had to throw that in there. The faucet pivots from side to side.. never had any like them and now can't imagine not having them. This was a lovely re-do. Enjoy!!!

I love this video so much! The bathroom turned out amazing! We are going to be doing our bathroom this spring as well and I’m doing it on a budget as well! I got all of the new tile for the floor for 90% off at Lowe’s and I got a new vanity because we HATE the one that is currently in our bathroom for $200 off and I bought our mirror at target last year for 75% off! I love doing home improvement things on a budget as well! It’s a fun challenge!

Love it! Almost everything we got for this was discounted or 2nd hand! It’s always possible to do things on cheap!
