We decided to build a more permanent bed for road trips where we sleep in the Honda Element. We allowed for storage and a bucket bathroom. Check it out!

Great job guys. Three quick comments, 1. You have to put in a quick latch on that back panel so that you can get out easily from inside the rear. Climbing over those seats to open the doors get old quick. There are bunch of videos that you can search. It is fairly easy. 2. You will also need to get some new rear adjustable control arms for that thing. The Elements come with a non-adjustable rear control arms. With the added weight of that setup it will pull the top of the rims/tires in and it will wear out those tires on the inside quick! 3. Reflectix makes great suns shades to darken out the windows completely.

lots of good points. as for the weight of the bed, i have been doing music gigs with a full load of heavy amps for 10 years in the element. 4 times heavier than the bed. no noticeable problems.

Once that foam mattress is broken-in, you might add another layer, either on top, or underneath. A thin, soft, "topper" and thin, very firm one, to go underneath & prevent bottoming-out.

I would suggest some angle brackets to the 2x4's.

Absolutely love this! we just built a similar platform bed in the back of our E! I'm curious to learn from you how the mattress contorts when the seats are up and in driving position. I have rather long legs so I have my seat positioned almost as far back as it can go when behind the wheel!

super comfy with new mattress. the mattress is a perfect fit. wall to wall. we put a cooler and a pee bucket for theresa as leg supports and push seats forward. works great.

Great build, what are the measurements of height, width and length? Thanks
@30mofishing
@30mofishing 3 жыл бұрын
man . that was so long ago... if I remember right we measured the length and width of the Honda Element. you would have to do the same to match the car u want to put something like this in.

Nice! Did something similar in my Toyota Yaris. Was never impressed with the way the back seats folded down, so I ripped them out and replaced it with some plywood decking. If y'all are looking for something to go between the plywood and the mattress, I cannot recommend enough Armor All's cargo liners. Cheap, and easy to work with. My dog, a 75lb husky/lab, rides back there quite often, and you'd never know it. imgur.com/MmtYqDq.png < before I cut the liner to fit.

Hey 30 Miles I’m making my first ever trip out to Pensacola this summer in mid June. What baits would you suggest? Here in Texas we roll Down South paddle tails, Gulp, and popping corks with the like and live shrimp. I’d love to hear back. Great content, keep it coming.
@30mofishing

any paddle tail in light colors, mirodine or jerk baits, top water. on beach sling heavy lead thats shiny chrome. like gotcha plugs.

By any chance do you have the dimensions of the pieces of wood you cut? It would be very helpful
@30mofishing
@30mofishing 4 жыл бұрын
No. That platform is long gone with our move to Texas. But it was just shy the width of an element. We eyeballed the whole thing.

It would have been a helpful video if we had dimensions other then that its nice to see ideas but a waste of mist people time, lumber is expensive dess days who need to make bad cuts n mistakes

Great job on the bed and you’re right about seeing what else needs to be done after the first trip. A couple of suggestions : You’re gonna want to put something that’s non skid on the electronic shelf so when you have to slam on brakes they don’t wind up on the floor. Also you may want to put a small piece of rope to connect the milk crates together so it will make it easier to get to the front one from the back or vise/verses. You can get some great ideas from cargo van builds on KZbin. Also check my van out if you want to as well, I just finished my rolling fish cabin. Love y’all adventures Trey SCYAKER
