You installed the new oil filter without removing the old o-ring seal that was stuck in the oil inlet stud. This is a mistake, and that’s why the spring was so tight because you have two seals on top of each other. If you use the OEM filter that does not have an integrated rubber seal, then of cause you keep the o-ring in place, acting as a reusable seal for the filter.
@KrakensGarageandAdventures9 ай бұрын
You are correct. Truth be said, it worked both ways. When I shot this video, there was no service manual available. So everything was a guess based on my experience. Again,both ways will work.
@RS-nl2lp9 ай бұрын
Yes It probably won’t hurt anything. And probably it’ll still seal. Just remove it next time. BTW I investigated T1/T2 timing marks. T2 is TDC, use this for valve clearance adjustment. T1 is in fact BDC. Don’t use this mark for anything.

No, o-rings inside the engine oil has a limited lifespan. Also the hi-flo and K&N filters are designed to seal with the pre installed seal, so don’t do that. Remove the o-ring if using hi-flo or K&N.

Thank you for the fantastic job you are doing there. I need to ask because i am a new TNT 125 (Europe -Greece) I did 10km and return home to change the oil and filter with MOTUL oil and k&N 112 filter. I left the engine to dry completely and install 1000 ml of the new oil (from the oil bottle indicator). Now the oil it at the high level with the engine stop and i can barely see oil when the engine is running. I am asking because when you change oil and filter after 10km ride the manual point that you should put 1100ml back in. I just put 1000 and it's full and i did a test ride also. Now when the ENGINE IS RUNNING the side glass level is in the middle and when stoped is full. Is this normal ???
@KrakensGarageandAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It depends if you thoroughly warmed up the bike before the oil change. The extra 100 ml is for the oil cooler. If you didn't change the oil while is hot the valves on the oil cooler won't open and flush out the old oil.

Hey I really like your videos and have a green benelli as well. I have had only one issue from when I got my bike and that is my oil cooler keeps leaking from the bolt side by the header. I replaced it the sealant washers with ones from auto zone they leaked and got ones from benelli and they leaked as well. I believe I'm tightening too much and wanted to know if there is a torque setting for that bolt?? Or if you have some advice that can help me. Sorry for the long comment trying to ask a simple question.
@KrakensGarageandAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Is your bike still under warranty? If so, take it to the dealer asap. If not and you have replaced the sealant washers, my only other guess would be the bolt may need replaced. As for the torque settings for that bolt, you can download the service manual here and it should have the torque settings for your entire bike. www.dropbox.com/s/j53yc6dukca60g5/Benelli%20TNT%20135cc%20Official%20Full%20Service%20Manual%20%282021%29%20.pdf?dl=0

@@KrakensGarageandAdventures understood. In general you're doing a very good job :-) my experience as a professional mechanic tells me that if the new filter comes with a built-in seal then the o-ring becomes redundant but it most likely isn't going to hurt anything. As far as setting the valves you really don't need to pay attention to the timing marks. As long as the lobe of the cam is pointing away from the rocker you're good to go (at least that's how I was taught and how I've done it on hundreds of vehicles over the 20 years I've been turning wrenches). There's a pretty decent part of the rotation of the cam where there is zero lift so it's effective to just do that by eye. Really enjoying the videos keep them up!

You failed to mention removing the rubber grommet from the K&N filter or removing the o-ring from the tube the filter slides on, as you don't want to use both, as you did. The OEM filter doesn't have a rubber grommet, because the o-ring remains on the shaft.

It all depends on the temps in your area. Thanks for watching.

Can someone please give me some insight. In the video, you verbally say 10w50 but then pour in 15w50. I bought the 15w50 can I use it? Or do I need to return and re order?

Either oil will do just fine. I put in a little thicker oil to quiet down the chatter of the noisy valves. If you're in 100* heat go with the 10w50. Good luck! Eric

I really don't see the benefit. Why not use a purpose designed oil for a motorcycle? Eric

I understand. Honestly you need to search out and find a good shop with a good tech to sort your issues. You seem to have more than your fair share.
