Am I insane for wanting to make this dress but the only thing I have sewn were napkins and pijama shorts? I have a wedding in four weeks and I really want to make this, I have a lot of free time as I am on vacation right now. My plan is to make a prototipe first with another fabric before risking it all on the satin.

Not insane at all! You're already going in the right direction: it's great to do a test beforehand to see if the pattern fits you properly and if everything is alright. If you decide to make it and end up needing any help at all, my DM's on Instagram are open! You can ask me anything there

If I’m using a sheer organza fabric, should I just overlock the seams so that they look clean on the outside? I am using a lining of course. Thank you!
@shannonjenningsmakeup4 ай бұрын
definitely, organza frays a lot. You could also use french seams for an even cleaner look
@melandaalcuis14292 ай бұрын
For any sheer material like tulle, organza, and chiffon, you would need to uses a French seam but if you are fully lining the entire garment then you can press open and serg the sides.

Hi Coraline! This is a lovely pattern and I love your detailed video guide. I tried to purchase the pattern on Etsy but Paypal declined the transaction citing "compliance with international regulations". I'm from Singapore! Is there any other platform or Google pay available to purchase the pattern? Thank you ❤
@coralinestreet9 ай бұрын
Hi my dear! Unfortunately, Etsy Payments is not available here in Brazil, so the only payment option I can offer there is PayPal. I can look for another payment option to put available on my website, which could take a few days, but throguh Etsy there's no other option so far. I'm really sorry for that!

My dear, I'm here to let you know international credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express) and Apple Pay are now being accepted as payment methods on my website! I'm not sure if you're still interested in it, but here is the link to the pattern: coralinestreet.com/products/aimee-bias-cut-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern

I bought the pattern for the dress a week ago. Do I have to cut the bias tape on fold - meaning double the length as the pattern? The pattern is 56 cm, so it has to be 112 cm? Greetings from Switzerland 😊

Did you add a zipper?
@coralinestreet10 ай бұрын
No! This pattern doesn't require a zipper. Since it has a v neckline, it's cut on the bias and has a bit of ease around the waist, you can put it on with no need of zipper or buttons. There's also a back tie to help cinch up the waist.

Hi! Just discovered your channel and really like your content! I purchase the pattern and hope I can turn a pretty silk into the short version. Problem is, I only have 1,5m of it. Do you think I can use another fabric to do the bias tape? Or do I need all of them as I plan to line the top? (if i understood correctly the video I think so), for the waist ties can I get away with two bias tape not on fold? thanks in advance!

can i also make this dress with linen fabric? or maybe linen viscose. or do you think it would fall in a weird way? love your videos sooo much!!
@coralinestreet6 ай бұрын
Yes, you could! The drape would be different, though. It would have more volume and be a bit stiffer. But it's totally possible! Looks great, just a different vibe

Hello, Coraline! Would you mind telling me the name of the blue fabric?? Se consegues me dizer em português, ainda melhor!
@coralinestreet8 ай бұрын
Oi Andrea! Aqui no Brasil é chamado de cetim mesmo. É um cetim leve, feito 100% de poliéster.

how much would all of this fabric usually cost you? ❤
@coralinestreet6 ай бұрын
It really depends. This satin is made out of polyester, so it's not super expensive. I think it was around 30 reais per meter, which is around 6 US dollars. But more noble fabrics tend to be a bit more expensive

You never give directions on how to assemble/attach the side straps :( You’re written guide that comes with the pattern also does not explain that part very well :(
@coralinestreet8 ай бұрын
Hi my dear! First of all, I'm really sorry about this. This is the first time I'm being told it wasn't explained well enough. But you can find the detailed information on how to make the waist ties and attach them to the dress on page 15 of the PDF instructions! It's step number 9 and number 10. I also show you how to make them during this video, starting at 5:35. You can rewatch this part if you want! You just need to sew two strips of the "Bias Tape" pattern piece right sides together (the pattern pieces tell you to cut 6 of those. Use 2 for the back ties. The others will be used for the neckline and armhole finishes), turn them right sides out and iron them. To attach them to the skirt, I show you how to do it at 5:55. Mark the skirt panels with chalk right at the waist line. There is a line on the paper pattern piece to show you where exactly the waist is. Place the skirt panels right sides together, as I show in the video, but place the waist ties you just made between both skirt panels, right at the waist mark you just made. Sew it at the sides and finish the seam with an overlocker or a zigzag stitch. I'm sorry it's repetitive, and basically the same thing that was written in the PDF instructions, but those are the steps you need to follow. If you could please tell me what exactly you didn't understand about it, I can try to explain it in a different way and be helpful! Please let me know.
