I really liked your video. You gave a lot of good information without being very wordy. You are real and down to earth and that makes you very relatable. Plus you are beautiful. Whatever you are using, I want to try. Hopefully it will help make this old lady a wee bit prettier.

Just found your video. It was very helpful. Thank you for being so clear in your instructions. I use the gold bond powder a lot in the summer but this will be so much nicer and cheaper!

You go ahead and keep making what you want! I enjoyed this video and I actually have a question. I’m trying to make an edible scented body powder but I’m allergic to cornstarch, soy and won’t use talc because it’s terrible for us. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think that tapioca starch, often used in corn-free products, would work as a substitute?
@iluminameluna
@iluminameluna 11 ай бұрын
Yes, it would. One of my grands is allergic to cornstarch and tapioca is the most cost effective of the starches. Although, if you had potato starch that's cheap, that would work too. ❤

Love your videos (the book and the soapy ones)!! 😍 thanks for that! Think I’m going to make a badge of the powder for my father, personally I can’t wait to see the video about the lotion! Love lotion, but not the ridiculous expensive ones filled with palm oil 🤭.

So, with this basic mixture, can used and add perfume body oils in the powder just the same, or is that method different thanks.

Love Your video!! I've heard in the past that plastic or wood utensils and bowls should be used when using bentonite clay
@iluminameluna
@iluminameluna 11 ай бұрын
Not necessary. I use mostly stainless steel or silicone utensils because I make soap from scratch with my equipment. I put bentonite clay in some of my soaps, and it's perfectly fine. ❤

@Chatty-Kathy01 I agree with you about the Doterra, Young Living etc bc as a certified aromatherapist I know all those brands have to have a base carrier oil bc if they didn’t some EOs could not only burn skin when directly applied but would also be extremely toxic. I too prefer Now and Aura Acacia over those more expensive brands 😉

Hi, I only use starch and put an fragrance oil on it and the starch becomes clumpy even though I didn't put in much fragrance oil, do you know what the problem is?
@Keridawn13
@Keridawn13 3 жыл бұрын
How are you adding the fragrance oil? If you can I would suggest using a pipette or a dropper and adding about 5-6 drops at a time stirring as much as possible.

I dont know if you realise but the bicarb of soda is THE deodorising ingredient in this recipe and without it youre just adding flour to your body. Its VERY effective at completely stopping body odours from even starting and getting rid of existing ones too, much more so than regular deoderants. The corn starch acts as a mild chafing preventative and gives the user an emotionally pleasing (but largely untrue) dry and clean sensation, but is equally importantly included to act as a distributer for the bicarb which can cause mild skin irritation when used on it own. To be fair the corn starch does a better job at NOT absorbing water and so not thickening /swelling up, forming a thin layer of paste over time as sweat mixes into it unlike other powders so it pretty good that way; in other words its more like a skin sealant and a longer lasting friction buffer. So where does the sweat go? The bentonite clay (sodium bentonite not calcium bentonite) is the absorbing ingredient which absorbs a fair amount of water to even start to make it go pastey therefore not much is needed (especially since there is also a lot of corn starch to contend with too), and once again the corn starch helps to distribute it evenly. The other ingredients may help in small ways but are mainly feel good additions, with the exception of the essential oils which are very effective at healing, disinfecting, and rejuvenating the skin; apart from making the whole thing smell nicer and more luxurious. Lavender oil is the safest/least sensitising to use, smells very pleasant, and is whos speciality is as a skin irritation soother and disinfectant so would be very fitting for this recipe.

Absolutely! Of course always check the sensitivity of the bottom you’re powdering, but it should work great!
