Cool, thanks for sharing. The boom mount is contected to the grab bar similar to a spigot insulatation box that uses the spigot as an anchor (you tighten it so that it is tight to the house - similar to tightening the hook on a kayak)

I tried to make one using pvc, thinking it would bend instead of breaking. Unfortunately, pvc isn't stiff enough to hold an action camera lol. Definitely going to be making one of these. Thank you for sharing pete!

Hello Pete A greeting from Guadeloupe (FWI) to you and all the readers of your channel. River Kings! Here the ocean and air temperature is 81°F. But back to this support mast. Question 1: The hook under the black bell hangs well on the carrying handle of the kayak, correct? Question 2: do you confirm that instead of a GoPro mount, you can put an attached smartphone mount? In advance, thanks to the handyman teacher!😉😁

@@RiverKingsKayak what if you install a spring in the top half incase you roll or it gets hit? Or like a tension spring on some tent poles etc.

This is perfect, was thinking about this paddling yesterday any watching my cobbled together mount moving when I rolled (granted it’s just under the bungees on my sea kayak). So refreshing my memory. Which 1/4”-20 GoPro mount are you using? Thinking I should order some with Prime Days coming up tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this.
@RiverKingsKayak3 ай бұрын
Thanks Andrew! It is just the standard mount with the threaded insert on the bottom.

Sorry I missed it! Love DIY stuff. This one leaves me with a question though. Why did you build this one differently than the one on Nana? Just to build it (I would do it for the sake of doing it too!) or does it give an advantage over the Ram Mount on Nana?
@RiverKingsKayak6 ай бұрын
Thanks Dean! The RAM mount I use for the Yukon just didnt hold up well in ww. It was very wobbly and hard to keep in place.

Hey Pete, great video! I'll have to give that a try. I'm experimenting with different mounts and cameras (should probably make the videos to prove it) and I was wondering if you've tried using 360 camera with that mount. I bet it would give you some great footage. Out of idle curiosity, does that mount pose any danger with preventing a roll in a sort of shallow situation or is it so short that you wouldn't be able to roll anyway? I dont yet have the skills to do white water, I am just wondering. I saw you rolling in the beginning of the video, so it looks like theres no interference for a normal situation. Keep up the great work!
@RiverKingsKayak6 ай бұрын
I havent tried the 360 with that mount yet. I dont actually have a 360 yet.
@escapewithed39955 ай бұрын
@@RiverKingsKayak Oh man, the 360 cameras are a game changer for reducing the number of cameras you need to take with you. There's no need to ditch the gopros (as if anyone would after dropping the cash on them) but you only need a single isnta360 to capture whats going on around you. I'm still playing with mounting options and quite honestly, not sure how they would do in WW, but for float trips with other people, you can spin the field of view around and do some pretty cool stuff with it. Its got a bit of a learning curve wit the software, but it's not too bad. I'm still playing with it... of course, I need to start posting more footage, but I need to go on more trips first. Keep up the good work!
