Easy DIY awning hack for a high top van. I bought a 10X12 tarp, 2 green elephant adjustable poles, some para cord, and 4 cheap pincher clamps. On the drivers side clip the tarp at 4 points along the gutter seam with the cheap clamps, with the tarp draped over the van set up the poles into the tarp garments, attach ropes into ground stakes, tighten down. Zero rain between van and tarp, it can get flappy in high wind, but in normal use its great!

Just wanted to say...I have watched this video so many times. I have a Toyota 4Runner and like many people I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for something I can do for far less. This idea is great even if one wants to put a spin on it to make it theirs. Just wanted to say thanks and hope your travels are great.

Thanks! I sold this van about a year ago but had a lot of fun in it. I was going to build another van but got a new Tacoma. Went out exploring today actually and was able to get down some roads my van never would have. Build your rig how you want to and enjoy it. Have fun.

Nice build. We are thinking of a mobile office for my wife's business here in the Philippines. Nothing like a camper here, you MUST build what you want. Pinoy craftsmen can fabricate ANYTHING you wish for a small price if you can not DIY. This project will be no problem, all the parts can be purchased at local hardware shops. Thank you so much for posting your design.

Great ideas for parts to use. I'm going to have to consider this design for the truck since I'm thinking will work well and can even use some lower drag improvements for mounting also I'm thinking like for on the lower end of the truck body just making a hole basically with a pin on the pole. Probably can 3D print a mold and make like a silicone plug to cover too if even needed. Torpedo tip and tail the caps too maybe? Thanks for sharing!

Hey suggestion. so why not put on regular pvc caps drill a 1 inch hole in the center of each That will allow the PVC pipe to protrude out from the center on the PVC pipe ...the 1 inch PVC come out through holes in the center of each - you can put a handle crank handle on the end Or a drill gun attachment of some sort …. and if you make a wide 1/2 slit down the length of that 4 inch PVC wide enough to let the tarp out you could just unfurl it from the inside of that PV tube. Then you can roll it back up with a handcrank from the protruding PVC pipe coming out of the center of one of the end caps on you for the PVC pipe. If you use a four-inch PVC you can probably store all your poles extended inside the pipe to just pull off endcap pull out your pipes put it back on make sure the tarp PVC pipe goes back in the center hole. Might need some type of a screw on external cab or a locking pin of some sort maybe. And then unfurl your tarp from the dispensary basically
@RubberTrampRenegade
@RubberTrampRenegade 4 жыл бұрын
More than one way to skin a cat I suppose. I'm sure what you are describing may work, but it might get water inside it with a slit in the PVC.

I’ll tell you just like I have told every other troll. I am one of the most patriotic people you will ever encounter. My father fled communism to ensure his children could enjoy freedom. I am grateful to live in this country and fly my flag with pride. My brother served our country to protect our freedoms. One of those freedoms is the first amendment of the constitution of the United States of America which affords me the freedom to fly the flag however I choose to do so. I can fly it on a pole, in my van, or wear it as swimming trunks if I choose to. If you don’t like it, kiss my ass.
