It works tried and tested bro I've been doing it on my nuvo 40 and Reefing with O has been doing it on his nano with 100 % success with the Triton method Travis

after only a week the reactor is almost full of chaeto and with the cycled rock i have yet to even see a diatom bloom

Question, if I don't have a sump and put the reactor at the bottom in the cabinet, will the water go up due to pressure of water coming in up to the main tank?

I'm curious how warm are those lights to touch? I know a lot of people had complaints with various Amazon lights causing hazing and micro-cracks on their reactors. I'm not sure if it's because of overheating on the lights or of a particular material that the reactor is built from. So that dimmer might just come in handy. Also just to point out to others watching these lights are rated ip65 which is not completely waterproof. The ip68 lights are 100% waterproof but hard to find and very very expensive compared to these.

they are just a little warm but nothing that would cause any issues with the reactor. I left them on for 24 hours just to see with no issues.

Love the videos! ive builT one of these aswell, pretty much the same thing, but 2 of my plastic screws that you synch that top acrylic plate down with broke, question: what are those lil plastic screws called, know anywhere to order, because i cant find at hardware stores

hmm i would google the reactor brand/type and screws. i have found them before.

Try searching "nylon thumb screw with knurled head and shoulder". You can figure out the size by going to a hardware store, then ordering the correct screw online. HTH

Red, or red+blue, will grow even better, and so you can use less lights which will make less acrylic-cracking heat.

I set up an algae reactor similar to these about two months ago to finally sort out my hair algae and excess nutrient levels. Finally got down to undetectable nitrate and phosphate levels on my test kits. did those tests last night and was so surprised. With the chaeto still growing in the reactor and nutrient levels undetectable, should the hair algae on my rocks finally start dying? think I should scrub it all off again? (tried that when nitrates where at 2ppm and p04 at 0.03, but it slowly grew back). Love the vids!

What is your light schedule on the cheto. Every time I get cheto it turns white and dies after about a month. And gets a slime like coating. I was thinking of also trying other macro algae’s. By Lfs has some but it’s covered in bubble algae so I’m all set with that. Will you be selling any grape calerpa soon?

Great video FOH i used the topled grow light and have been very impressed with the growth just after a week (just released a video on the update on my channel)....one suggestion would be to put the outlet which connects power adaptor on top of the reactor instead of bottom...tht just helpful in avoiding any water spilling over it when it comes down to maintenance or removing the chaeto...love your vids as always..

The issue I have found with this , is the algae only grows up , it does not want to stay at the bottom. If it does go to the top it does off

Be careful when you do this, I did this exact setup and eventually had a major crack on the reactor due to the constant heats of the lights. Water leaked and also got in the wrong place

Dont wrap them so much, you dont need to cover the thing in lights for it to work.

I also did it i have 2 reactors I didn't like the warm white the red and blue grow my cheato like crazy and I've been running zero on all lvls haven't had nit pos in months!!! Plus I have so much pods its not funny the triton is just another added cost all u have to do is keep your iron up for the cheato to grow gl!!!👍👍
