Frugal may be the money invested. The dedication you do is more valuable than money.

I lived in the southeast part of Az and sitting outside one day I kept hearing an occasional electric "POP", turned out to be the end of the coax cable running from my CB antenna, it was disconnected from the cb and laying on the ground. I found out that the more dust in the air equaled more snap. I wish I was clever enough to come up with a sky-rake of some kind to harvest that static into something useful. Just a little food for thought. Love your channel.

Looks great you may wanna wrap those railroad ties they have a oil in them that May contaminate the water and pallets are treated as well The water from the top can Leach through, your Homestead looks awesome love your channel❤️🙏👍
@FrugalOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have considered the same things you have. There's a barrier between the pallet wood and the water, no water can enter from the top and the water level will never be high enough to touch the ties. This was about building a system with what I had on hand to take advantage of the monsoons and not miss the opportunity to harvest water. I have tested the water and it's perfectly safe to drink. Eventually I'll put in addition barrier but it's safe.

If a million more people do what you're doing right now, they'd probably help Lake Mead replenish itself.

And guess what great old California did... Made it illegal to collect rain water 🤦♀️
@jerrogance2 жыл бұрын
@@adventuresofroblana2619 Why doesn't that surprise me? Not like the ground can even hold it now. It's just gonna evaporate and not even get used.

I don't know your plan, but just in case, I'll suggest pruning your trees from underneath, to leave a nice shade canopy, rather than from the top down.
@Herbalmanatee2 жыл бұрын
Awesome project. Be careful with the railroad ties. If they're treated I've read they can leach dangerous chemicals (creosote) into soil and water.
@FrugalOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it's only the manhole and it will never touch soil or water.

Did you line bottom of cistern with sand to help prevent punctures or some other way? Just wondering?
@FrugalOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
The bottom of the cistern is soft sand, I lined it in plant fabric then the vinyl liner.

John do you find it more difficult to male the initial videos of the project or to go back and make a video like this where everything is together? Sorry just interested in the editing. It seems it would be more difficult to go start to finish simply because there'd be more footage to go through
@FrugalOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
It takes more time to do the start to finish videos. People who aren't subscribed probably appreciate it though.
