I have a 1 meter Cold Laminator. BIG tip. At all cost keep the silicone rollers covered and dust free. I have a special hand silicone roller to pick up dust. If you ever do any lamination on photographs, the tiniest spec of dust will leave a "fisheye" between the print and overlayment.

Awesome tip. Yeah ists very sticky

Thanks for the great project. I just completed mine. I had to remix some little parts as my 50mm PVC pipe is for some reason not fitting properly. I also used EVA mats for roller covering and it works like a charm. Thanks again for saving me some money. Oneday when I'm grown up, I'll start a YT channel as well.

I actually love this! My wife has a silhouette (doesnt use it) that I can use something like this for!

Great idea! Next time i need one, I can make this one. Maybe I'll try some sort of inner tube for the roller. Thanks!

Thanks so much, really well implemented and simple enough. I'm thinking PVC pipe or wooden dowels with inner tubes might be a pathway too. Conveyor rollers are also on my list but are a bit pricey. Cheers, JAYTEE

Thank you very much for the video. One option would be to print a flexible tube that embraces the pvc tube, they can be in several parts.

Love the idea. I'm wondering though if that might leave layer lines. If you try it with success let me know.

I'll start with a curtain tube and a swimming noodle

I might make it half the size, but looks great.

Thanks looks like a great project. Instead of silicone why not bike tubes?

Great suggestion! Give it a try. Love to hear your results.

@@MakersMashup thanks for the reply. I may start off with a 6 inch version first then make a larger one. Will definitely do that thanks! Love your design! Appreciate all the hard work and the open source

My wrist is in need of a dough laminator... same concept but different medium but about 4x more expensive.Hopefully I can learn how to make one...🤞

After some googling I'm pretty sure you could mod this design to make that work. Do you happen to know what the rollers are made of in the dough sheeter/laminator?

A cooking channel called Alex, on youtube made a 3D printed croissant roller

@@MakersMashup I ended up purchasing the dough laminator made by Brod and Taylor. The design seems relatively simple. As a matter of fact if pasta rollers were just 5 or 6 inches longer, there would be no need to dyi. I chose the Brod and Taylor because it has measured notches to control thickness and it uses a board versus passing the dough through rollers. The material for the board is hard plastic, like a cutting board and the rollers are aluminum. There are plans that you can download for 3d printers but my building skills are poor.

Just as an idea you could possibly use tube balloons. The kind that they make balloon animals out of. That would have the benefit of easy replacement of the surface when it gets damaged or worn. I think you could use compressed air and soapy water for installation.
@MakersMashup Жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good idea and probably would work if you could get a large enough balloon. A 3d print could be placed on the end to help slip it over.

Two rolling pins, olts on each end with skateboard bearings set in to a peice of wood on each side and a hand made crank handle attached to one of the rolling pins. Easy peasy and you dont need a 3d printer

@MakersMashup i probably won't make a video of the build unfortunately, it wouldnt fit in with my channel topic. Maybe a short perhaps but we will see 👍 If i had a 3d printer i would absolutely make what you made though

@@MakersMashup Man, they really are. It's like a really big hammer--suddenly, *everything* is a nail. You find a million ways to slap together a quick .stl to fix things, do all sorts of weird things (like adjustable grip clamps to hold a giant sheet of canvas)...suddenly, something you would have tossed out is fixed with a 5 minute design and $.20 of filament. It's an absolutely amazing tool to have in your toolbox.

What is the making tape that you are showing in the video?
@MakersMashup Жыл бұрын
If it's blue, it's just blue painters tape you get at any hardware store. The blue sticks well and removes well.
