sorry forgot to had in your review you used these BTF-LIGHTING 3 Pin Electrical Connector but you said i think only the male part. can't you use the male and female?

0:00 FYI PRO TIP: Cleaning that sticky glue off from labels, use Citrus Pure Air Freshener, available at Home Depot and Lowes. Spray some on glue and let sit for a minute, it breaks down the glue so it can be almost wiped away.

The tip about not using Wagos for the data line might solve my issue. It will be a few days before i get a new board my last one fried. I'm using WLED controller for Eufy lights.

I have never had good luck with them. All my early problems were from them. I always try and solder when I can or crimp.

If you want the flexibility of the waygo I've found placing a quinled data booster ahead of the waygo allows it to work without issue.. I have 1 connector where I needed the flexibility of the waygo and this has solved that issue and ran for a few months without issue.

Nice video... just an fyi the esp that you're using has a voltage regulator on the Vin pin that you can put 5v into. I believe if you want to use 3.3 volt there is aslo a 3.3v pin you can use..

@@twinkletunesandlighting could I use this on pros? I have 200ft but no controller, I see you said RGBW, I know the pros are rgbww but I plan to only use white accent lighting. I have no experience with any of this, do you sell prefabricated setups I can buy?

What protocol do Govee lights use / WLED settings?

WS281x the Govee lights are a simple RGB that is a WS2811 per bulb. The is the series that came out before the pro series. If you have the pro it is labeled as a RGBWW.

Hi so I have 2 x 100ft of non pro lights it will take me 200 ft to go around my house. So do I need to do this for each 100ft strand

I have the same issue. Going to try a power supply with a larger amp rating to allow for the 7 amps WLED tells me I need for 200'

I thought WS2811 was 12V protocall. So your saying the Govees require 36V. So 36V is being sent to each light in the string and converted to 12v at each light.

You will need to use the power supply from Govee as it will provide the 36v to run this particular set of led. In the video the only thing I did was replace the controller with an Esp32.

i get all of how its being done. And thanks for the video BTW. Govee must do something at each light thats different than a standard WS2811. There must be some internal things they are doing to be able to power ws2811 with 36V

@@DeeDee-vu5mi the 36v is only for the long run. You can power up to 108 LED on the longest run but the voltage drop at the end is pretty big. I assume it is a regulated pixel and I also assume it is a 12v pixel. Again these are my assumptions. By the end of the run I am still a little over 12v. WS2811 has nothing to do with the voltage. It is all about the signal. The signal does not care about how much voltage it takes to power the device.

Its more of a hobby. WLED is just a protocol for controllers to "talk" to the lights.

@ ha ha. My bad. Yes they do. You will need to select the correct color order on WLED. My are version 1 of the Govee which are RGB. The pros I believe are RGBW.

Looks like a 12ga shell in your bench. Thankfully, it's been fired. Safer that way. Thanks for the video. This is my next project. Converting my 3 (soon to be 5) Govee H705 strings to WLED. I really don't like that Govee app.

What’s the point my opinion Govee has better presets than WLED

@@blaines1872 so I can control them with xlights for my Christmas and Halloween shows. When I am not running the shows on the off seasons I put the Govee controllers back on.
