@@andrikurniawan531 I'm not 100% sure, but I think its for the better control WLED has vs Govee's built in programs. Just gives your govee better functionality.

@@andrikurniawan531 Its not cheaper, in fact you'll end up paying more. But the purpose of this mod is to allow you to control the Govee LED's using open source WLED instead of the closed source Govee app ecosystem. The Govee LED's are great, and the app is... fine. However, the effects are very limited and controls are limited. If you're ok with how it works out of the box (and I'll note: I have these exact LED's on my house for the last year and it's been fine), then you don't need the mod. WLED, beyond being open source, has a LOT more effects and controls. You can really tune it to do what you want. Additionally you can configure multiple WLED controllers to work together. Either to have synchronized effects or to do something more complicated. If you've ever seen those videos of houses doing musical light shows? There is a solid majority of those that are probably using WLED to run their LED strips.

Would I then use the WLED app instead of Govee? Is it also safe to say that I can bypass Govee altogether and only use WLED with other strips? So this video is only people that have Govee LEDs?

Chris, i love your videos and content!! I wanted to share what i did with my Govee gen1 lights and wled. I have a relay being controlled with Home Assistant that when i switch on my wled controller it switches the relay so that i can control my Govee lights with wled. Otherwise, it stays on the Govee controller. Keep up the great videos and congrats on your move and your patreon account!

Have you attempted this with the Govee landscape and pathway lights? I installed 6 sets in my backyard and all but 1 have died because the switches don't appear to hold up to the elements. Would love to use this as a solution instead of replacing with much more expensive lights.

First of all it is so great to find another fellow Govee enthusiast. With that being said, I'm now a new subscriber and taking a deep dive in all of your videos. Perhaps you could help me with a problem though A Christmas time I got my first set of H6441 rope light, it worked just fine for about 2 days as I was running various different scene modes through it. Yesterday I went to turn them on and there was a zero power going into it. I have tried all of the different hard reset soft reset and disconnect it from the wall. Could it be possible that it is just a power box that is the problem? Do you know any tips on how to open these up and take a look in there to test it? I'm currently running 23 different sets of the lights in my home Karma and this is a completely new issue for me

hello. Love your videos. I could really use some guidance from you, if you can spare some time. I purchased a pack of fairy lights from Amazon that comes with a controller to allow blinking pattern selection. I am using it at the base of a chess set, as I am woodworker. However the battery pack/controller is rather think. I need a way to spread out the batteries, the controller, and make everything much thinner to allow for a thinner chess set base.. I would like to pre-program both the blinking of light pattern, and to alternate which lights are blinking in a small "burning amber" way. Any guidance on how to make this happen? Thank you.

Chris I see you did not swap ww and cw in the options. everything I have seen on the WLED github says you need to do that but your white channels seemed to work. Is this a new change to the set up of these?

Can you use the WLED mod with other govee products, like the indoor desk rope lights or light bars? My rope lights and light bars (both govee) don't change in sync and sometimes can take 2-3 seconds to change.

That probably depends on the length and gauge of your wire as well as voltage. Plus sometimes you inject where it's convient, so every application is going to be different

It's not really a mod he is just replacing the WLED controller with another one that has WLED software flashed to it. The purpose is to control it with WLED and I guess it overcome the pixel limit of the Govee software (120 LED's)

How is this different than the govee desk light mod? Seems to me a lot of videos that are all just the same thing. Cut, connect ground, data and power and done. Saw a video the other day same thing with the shoe holder. I subscribed so I could see cool projects maybe learn something new but this is the same stuff I have been doing forever and don't need a guide for as it's not hacking or building anything it's just disconnect this and connect that. Just constructive feedback, not trying to be harsh and I know not everyone knows as much as I do. But as an example I just modded the Aquara T1M to WLED and it involved more than the last two videos and I didn't post it because I didn't feel it was really worthy of a video.
