Great detail video 👍🏻 Just a few tips for the comment section it's easier if when installing the pickets to have the top rail but with only one end slid into the post. So if starting from left to right have left end of the top rail slid into the post but the right hand out. It will keep all of your pickets in line. Also if you have more than two line post in your fence line it's best to run a string line on the ground from the first post to the last post then keep every post in line with the string keeping about 1/8 inch off of the string and level. Usually the easiest method is to install all of your post and bottom rails first and let your concrete settle for a day if you try to do it all at the same time the wind could push your post over in the wet concrete and you would have a crooked fence. Really enjoyed the video great looking fence. Take care.

Not terrible. If you do another one in the future I'll tell you the trick to make everything look flush. Make sure your top gate rail lines up with the rest of top rail. It doesn't look straight when when they don't line up. If gate hits bottom you can cut upright piece 2." You can still adjust them if you want. Rivets go a long way

I'm getting ready to do 700' of PVC vinyl and watched your video because the thumbnail eluded to some unique and (presumably useful) tool that would help me in my install. Turns out the tutorial was all common sense stuff and only after suffering through all 17 minutes did I see the stupid wisk. When I'm dying, no matter how I'm dying I want those 17 minutes back.

Great video - really helped me to plan our fence - one question though...can you do a custom width on the gate? I only have 36" from inside post to the house wall and need to fill that with a gate - not sure if I order the gate package if I will be able to adjust the width like you can with the panels.

Yes you can ! Planning is definitely key here and taking your time ! Ha. Good luck ! Mike

You need to put in new notches when you cut the rails. They make a too for that.

is there a reason you didnt use 4x4's inside the posts? asking because im about to install my own fence and watching other videos they all use them inside the pvc posts.
@FamilyDIYtv3 ай бұрын
Depends on the fence you use. If it’s very thin vinyl, then 4x4 is needed but these are meant to use without 4x4. I’d just follow manufacturer instructions. These are from Home Depot and Lowe’s ! Good luck with your project … ! Its hard work but worth it. :)

Can you show me how to do work plan for permit . Thank you

I’d go to the township, as for site plan. My township prints them out. Then just draw on the plan and submit. They usually walk you through it.

I’m doing a 12’ privacy fence (2 6’ sections). Do I need the metal in the insert?. It seems unnecessary.
@FamilyDIYtv6 ай бұрын
Only need metal for posts that are holding a gate.

Where did you get your fence from?

Lowes but can also get from Home Depot. It’s a Barrett outdoors fence, sold under multiple names.

No disrespect but you used the wrong inserts for the gate post. It looks like an A the H posts are for the line posts in high wind areas. Again no hate, I was just watching to see how other people have building to try to do my job faster I get paid by the post the more the merrier lol

@@FamilyDIYtv actually the inside screws on the hinge didn't have anything to bite into except for the fence, the A would have metal, doubt it makes it that much more weak over the long run
