Killer video! Been fixing cars professionally since 2003 but been about 8 years since doing a clutch on a k20 dc5, doing mine at home on my back as cant be assed taking to work to rush the job. This way has been epic on my own on my back!

Bro...I watched every RSX transmission removal video out there and yours is by far the best. Not only is your removal method the best way, but your explanation and shots made everything easy to follow. Felt like I had a coach right there with me. It took some time but got a new clutch installed and a Civic Si LSD. To echo what others are saying, your a beast getting that sucker back in by yourself. I tried with the jack but couldn't line it up to the right angle. What worked for me was to put some 2X4's over the engine bay and have a helper hold the trans weight with straps (there even 2 places to clip it in) over the 2X4's and then I could line up and get that first bolt through. My track RSX is stored away for the winter (Canada) but now I can watch the rest of your videos in preparation for the spring.

Glad I could help bro. I just broke something in my trans at the last track event. But it was last event of the season thankfully lol. I'll probably open it up January.
@alexbudgell90872 жыл бұрын
That’s what is great about the RSX as a track car. My buddy blew his Lotus transmission at track=$11K Something goes wrong with the RSX and get parts dirt cheap. Do you have a LSD in yours?
@4bangermafia2 жыл бұрын
@@alexbudgell9087 yeah, I have a wavetrac in mine. Atm, I'm suspecting it's the culprit that broke.

I appreciate the video I actually work in an automotive shop. And I have access to all data and stuff but doing a job at home is very different than doing it in a shop so thanks a lot. Also it might be worth mentioning an alignment would not be a bad idea after you remove the strut bolts. But I do think your way is better because you don't have the rotor assembly and stuff in your way while you're sitting on the ground fighting the transmission.
@4bangermafia4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is good point about checking alignment especially if someone is using beveled bolts to adjust camber

May be a good time to install new axle seals also, better to spend the extra $35 than have them leak after or later. Good video, may do the clutch in my '05 ep3 soon.

I have a question, at 8:45 of the video, you mention you didn’t have to take out the axle nut and just removed the lower strut bolts, but later in the video I see the rotor and hun totally removed. Is that just one side or both side removed?

Hey if you pause at 16:11, where the intermediate shaft goes into the trans, there's an elongated hole on the right side that looks like a rip or crack and you can see inside. Is that normal? I just noticed that on my rsx and I'm thinking that it ripped but it looks exactly the same on this vehicle.
