Being new to these techniques I had wished there would've been more explanation as to the type of mod podge used. It looks like the fabric product but I'm not sure. Also, no sealer besides mod podge? Cuz MP usually can't withstand heat. I'm thinking if someone put a hot coffee on the coaster.

Thanks for sharing this video! I made some coasters with decoupage technique. I sealed the surface with Mod Podge for 4-5 times. After one week, I used Dupli-Color Varnish and let the tiles to cure for a week. Then when I put a very hot mug on the tile, it didn't stick but there was a deep circle. Could you please tell me what the problem was?

I knew I was going to give your video a like within the first 20 seconds of watching. I love the way you address the viewers. Very good job. I did not subscribe as I don't generally watch craft videos and was simply looking up ways to use up the 200 tiles I salvaged. If I did do crafts, you would definitely have a new subscriber. If I were to give a little criticism, it would simply be that you could use some more lighting. Maybe work in front of a window during the day or add overhead lighting. Other than that, awesome job. Thank you for what you do.

@diyhookedoncustomcrafts69013 жыл бұрын
Hi Anabell, TFW! You can but be aware the mod podge is glue based and can't handle high heat. If you can, seal with a top layer of resin. I used the dishwasher safe mod podge. Hope this helps!

Nice job, but you should seal it with something. If you put a hot cup of a beverage on it when you go to pick up the cup it will stick. At least that's my experience. Does this happen to you?
@vanessaparker88093 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same. I'd love to try this technique but I've seen others seal it with something else after the mod podge. I'm wondering if it will stick as well
@timh72463 жыл бұрын
Other crafters who do this use Dishwasher safe Mod Page ... AND ... let the final coat dry 28 days to cure. That's a long time, but that's what the Mod Podge instructions say.

I'm trying to understand why you added water to the napkin before decoupaging it?
@diyhookedoncustomcrafts69012 жыл бұрын
Hi, when you wet the napkin and use it with the plastic page protector it smooths the napkin on the surface without tearing. Hope this answers your question.

@diyhookedoncustomcrafts69013 жыл бұрын
Hi Dina, TFW! Just ignore the embossed edges. Once the napkin is wet, the embossed edges will disappear...especially once you place the napkin on the glued tile. If this still remains a problem, cut off the edges and reposition the napkin. Let me know if this works.

I've never seen this done using water to attach the Napkins to the tile before. And what kind of Modge podge did you use? I've not seen the one with a blue label.
@diyhookedoncustomcrafts69013 жыл бұрын
Hi and TFW. The blue modge podge is the dishwasher safe. Try Michaels, WalMart and Hobby lobby.
@beverlylevy-balser85822 жыл бұрын
So you don't cure your acrylic tile after you use the modge podge because I've seen that you have to wait 28 days for it to cure.

@diyhookedoncustomcrafts69013 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan, so sorry you're having challenges. Try using less water and pat out the excess water. Use a little pressure with soft strokes from the center to the edges. Make sure your plastic sheet is clear of residue and use a flat silicone brush. I hope this helps... you'll be a pro in no time! Let me know if these work for you.😊
