I have a truckload of ceramic tiles. With these instructions I can finally do something with them. Thanks so much for showing us how to transform nothing into something. These make great gifts and can be adapted to any holiday where people are socially drinking more, whether it be hot chocolate, teas, or alcohol related. Or how about just as a decor piece!!? Thanks from Connecticut!

Hi there my friend! Aren't these fun? You can do so much with them. And yes, they make wonderful gifts. How fun to do some with Christmas rice paper or napkins. I'm going to do another video showing how to use a napkin. Have fun my friend and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for always watching and sending me messages 😘🤗

Hi Donna, thankyou for the great videos. Im unhappy with Mod podge for my decoupage projects and am going to try polyvine. I want a glossy finish on my Decoupaged real animal skulls and hoping to get a varnish that I can also use as a glue for the napkins and rice paper.Which Polyvine varnish do you think I should use? Thankyou so much

Hi Angee! Thank you and I'm happy you're enjoying my videos! My favorite Polyvine product is the Heavy duty wood varnish. It's not just for wood. You can use it on all surfaces. It's heat and water resistant. It's also food safe. I use it for everything. I get the satin finish and put on several coats. The more you put on the deeper and more vibrant the shine becomes. It's awesome! If you need something to be waterproof, Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme would be what you'll need. It's not dishwasher safe or submergible for a long period of time, but definitely waterproof. I'll leave you a couple of safe links. Hi Donna! Loving your videos! Any chance you have a video just about the Polyvine products? Like which ones to use when. I saw someone mention she lost her crackle fininsh when she wiped back with a baby wipe, what product would protect that from happening? Would so appreciate this type of a video. Thank you for your great videos!
@masoncreationsetc8 ай бұрын
Hi Victoria, I think that's a great idea. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate a video like that. I'm going to make a plan and work on that one. How heart breaking to lose your crackle like that. It's happened to me before. When you use the fineline crackle, you can't use any water based products at all. She just needed to wipe it with a dry soft cloth. I believe she knew, but forgot. I actually have a video on different types of crackle finishes that explains all of that. I'm going to leave you a link for that video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 Different types of crackle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r52Ul5WpaLBrh8k

Still pretty but wasted a lot of money by being careless and not fpllowing each step in order. Lesson learned....hahaha from Tuscaloosa, Alabama!! Roll Tide

Hi! (This is Doug's wife Melissa, lol). I'm getting ready to order the Polyvine products. will I also be able to utilize photos, scrapbook paper, or Laser Jet prints with these products for my coasters? Super excited to get these projects started! Also, do the Polyvine need to be stored in a warm area to prevent from going bad as some resins do? TIA!
@masoncreationsetc2 ай бұрын
Hi Melissa, You can do anything with Polyvine that you would do with mod podge. I've never had any real success with prints on copy paper with any glue or varnish. I find it lifts and bubbles somewhat. However with the Polyvine if you leave it alone until it's completely dry, it will lay back down again. Do you print on copy paper or rice paper? Rice paper seems to be the absolute easiest to work with when decoupaging. You will definitely need your final varnish to be Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish on a coaster. It's heat and water resistant, and food safe. Mod podge is not any of those. Polyvine isn't a resin, it's a varnish so you can store it in your house. I have them all in my studio and have never had a problem. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

@@masoncreationsetc I generally do all my crafts with Scrapbook paper cardstock as I'm a paper crafter. however, I've been wanting to branch out into different areas and have been very intrigued with the idea of ceramic coasters. Now, I've printed on both plain copy paper, cardstock and photo paper. i have never printed on rice paper, so that is an interesting concept for me to look into. i have never done a coaster, so I was delighted to find your video and that it didn't involve a bunch of resins or spraying and that I could still get a quality product without a coffee cup sticking to the coaster! I ordered the varnishes you suggested on the video last night and am looking forward to trying out these techniques on the various papers. At some point I am also going to take some designs I've created and have them printed as actual photos at Walgreens and see how they play out on the coasters. Thank you so much for the feedback! The bit about sanding down the sides of the ceramic coasters was brilliant! i also appreciate the links. i originally had ordered the Polyvine through Amazon, but cancelled when I went to the link you provided and found them for much cheaper!

Hi there my friend! Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish is waterproof and heat resistant. So it's perfect for coasters. I wouldn't put them in a dishwasher or leave them submerged in a sink of water. But you should be able to run them in water and hand wash them. I left you the link. Hi, I’m watching from Albertville, Alabama, USA. Was wondering what grit sandpaper you use to sand the edges with? Also what clear finish have you found that won’t stick to hot cups, I’ve heard CrystaLac is good but have you tried any of their products??
@masoncreationsetc3 күн бұрын
Hi Chrissy, I used about a medium grit. The best sealer for coasters is Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish. It's good on all surfaces, not just wood. It's moisture and heat resistant as well as food safe. It cures in 24 hours and ready for use. Dries crystal clear and will not yellow over time. It's absolutely perfect for coasters. It's what I use on all mine. I'll leave you a safe link. You'll love it. I put about 3 to 4 final coats of the satin and it becomes really shiny. You can also use it as your decoupage glue. Works like a charm! Hi do you use the same polyvine products for napkins as well. Also if you have aready done a top coat of modge podge can you put a layer of the heavy duty wood varnish on top? I find the modge podge not so good with heat. Thanks london uk
@masoncreationsetc2 ай бұрын
Hi there! Yes, I use Polyvine products for everything. I don't use mod podge at all anymore. I'm not sure if you can put the Polyvine over top of the mod podge if it hasn't cured yet. Mod podge needs a 4 week cure time. I'd wait the 4 weeks and then put the Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish over it. That one is perfect for coasters. Heat doesn't bother it at all. That's what I put on all my coasters. @masoncreationsetc2 ай бұрын
Oh yes, mod podge is definitely not for coasters. You'll love the Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish. It's an amazing product and cures in 24 to 48 hours instead of 28 days. I don't think mod podge performs well as a top coat for anything. It's just pva glue and will eventually turn yellow. You need varnish for a top coat. Polyvine stays crystal clear.
