Hi, these are lovely. I have been experimenting with these and everything is fine until I put the first layer of mod podge on my smooth, wrinkle free napkin. Even though I let it air dry of an hour it still wrinkles a lot. Any suggestions would be appteciated.
@carmentyson69419 жыл бұрын
Hi Patti, how are you? I think these coasters turned out beautifully! I was wondering if I could use vellum paper on a decoupage project, I have a lot of 12×12 paper, but I'm not into scrapbooking.
@patioelf9 жыл бұрын
carmen tyson Hi Carmen, I don't think you can use vellum since it's water resistant. The only thing I could think to do would be to use a clear glass vase and fit the vellum around it but use spray adhesive over the glass to secure the vellum. Or you could try this technique, kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKS0mWqQl5t_rbs Hope this helps. I love vellum so I may want to try this myself. Patti

Carol Fetherston Hi Carol, I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking. I prefer the tiles that I used over the glossy sealed tiles, and I only used the top layer of the napkin on the tiles that I do have. Was that what you were asking? Patti

Great video! Question: when placing a cup of hot coffee on your coasters, won't it melt the coating on them?
@patioelf8 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, and thank you. The Triple Thick is a heavier top coat than most and you would be safe to use it on this project. If you are going to use these in an environment where they get a lot of use (like a restaurant or a commercial setting) I would instead use a 2 coat resin which dries like glass - is as thick as glass and will take a beating. If you're just using these around your house the Triple Thick works well as long as it's completely dry. Since it's thicker it does take a while to 'cure' completely. I think they mention on the label not to place anything on top of it for several days so that it's completely cured. I hope this helps! Patti

These came out beautiful! :) I've been thinking about making some of these but I'm worried that they'll be sticky if you place hot beverage on them, like coffee etc.. Do you have any experience with that? TFS!
@patioelf9 жыл бұрын
Finally Crafting Hello and thank you! Yes- I do have experience with that. I love all of my decoupage glues but I have noticed that if you do not add a top coat/sealer or varnish over them, these will get sticky when you put a hot drink over them. Most decoupage come off of a surface when you put hot water on them-so I always make sure to add a top coat. If you're going with the matte varnish, (all of the supplies are listed on my website-I'll send you the link -even if you don't want to buy from my site you can still look at all of the supplies (or read about them like the matte varnish I list on the page) but if you're using the matte varnish I would go with 3 coats, if you're using the Triple Thick you only need the one coat. Hope that helps! upcyclewithdecoupage.vpweb.com/blog/2015/07/29/DIY-Romantic-Coasters-Decoupage.aspx Patti
