Once you've removed the fill plug, put it back in a couple of turns. Then remove the drain plug. The oil will come out slower. When you've moved your hand (holding the drain plug) out of the way of the draining oil, you can remove the fill plug and the rest of the oil will drain quickly.

Great video Chloe, couple of tips for you and your viewers... the crush washers you get comes in a kit, steel crush washers go on the rear dif. Drain & fill plugs. The front dif. Takes a steel crush washer on the fill plug and a copper crush washer goes on the drain plug. If your also changing the transfer case oil, it will use aluminum crush washers on the drain & fill plugs. Also I use a pump up style fluid transfer pump made by "Motive products power fill transfer fluids" I bought off Amazon with a ball valve shut off I added. Pour the recommended amount of oil in the tank, pump it up and turn on the ball valve, no mess no fuse. Keep up the great videos! 👍

Make sure to use Diff-lock compatible fluid. When loosening the bolt, use one hand to press and hold the 6-sided box socket tightly to the bolt. Since the bolt is so thin, if you round off the edges, removing especially the bottom bolt is tricky. Proper torque is OK, but be careful when tightening the Transfercase bolts. It's an aluminum casing and can crack! Just hand tight it. I deal with Toyota 4x4's since 1990 and never used a torque wrench to tighten diff/transfer bolts.

Appreciate the videos... DIY is a necessity in my area for my Tacoma unfortunately... First service at 5k miles went to my local Toyota dealer for an oil change (Pauly Toyota in Crystal Lake IL in case you're in the area), came back with a leaky oil filter housing since they didn't seem to seat the o-ring properly, scratched 2 of my wheels by apparently laying them face down, soaked my alternator with oil that they apparently splashed somehow when filling, and didn't properly torque my lug nuts! Both passenger side wheels had a couple nuts that were free spinning when I got home! All for a simple oil change and tire rotation. So yeah, I certainly won't be letting them touch my diff, who knows what they'll jack up.

Honestly for 268 ill just get them to do it. Not that i dont like working on my truck but the effort to get in and under the truck and doing it out in the cold and costing even if slightly more than if i would do it, id rather just pay someone else to do it. Maybe if it really did cost 250 canadian for each diff then id do it myself...268 plus tax for all 3 is just no brainer.
