Made this and love it!! I was using Castile soap but it leaves oily film on my farmhouse sink and I’m not much of a fan of it! I leave out essential oil and just used water, Sal Suds, and baking soda! This has the consistency of Mrs Meyers gel cleaner!!

I noticed the same thing about castile soap. I like sal suds much better! I think baking soda and sal suds combine a little better for a more powerful cleaner. So glad you like this recipe!

This is the most easiest way to make dish soap. Thank you very much. I just made some and it came out great. No more buying dish soap at the store.

Woo hoo I'm excited to try this and the demonstration really helps cause I didn't want to make a soap that didn't foam so it was really nice to see that it does. I mean I know soap doesn't have to foam to be effective, but I really like it when it does. 😁

Haha I'm learning to do that too. My sal suds were delivered today! Just in time I ran out of the last batch I made, which took forever to set and always separated anyways. I think this is going to be the winner for me.

I am going to try this today! Every time I have made a dishwashing liquid soap in the past with Sal Suds(which I love for washing dishes actually) it always ends up separating from the water anyway! And have to try to shake the bottle each time I try to wash dishes so it’s not been great lol. I’m looking forward to trying this and seeing if it’s different.

I’ve just begun an all natural life style and I enjoy your dish soap. What role does the baking soda play in your recipe? Why is it used? Thanks for keeping things so simple! 👍🏼

Baking soda is a great cleaning product! I actually use it around my hike for so many things. Baking soda helps break down dirt and grease and it's gritty enough to clean tough messes without scratching surfaces. I'll also sprinkle some baking soda onto a pan that may have some grease of food stuck before I put dish soap on for extra cleaning power! Thanks for watching! I so happy to hear you are starting your natural lifestyle. It's tough but also so rewarding! Congratulations

Interesting! I use 1 part Sal Suds to 2 parts distilled water because there are people here who USE TO DARN MUCH and using this ratio tends to make it go further. I also use kosher salt (the sodium just makes the mixture thicken, not sure why. Baking soda will do the same) and don't use EOs though I may try that.

Essential oils can add cleaning properties to the dish soap but are not required. They also make it a little more fun by changing up the scents with the seasons or holidays. Citrus in summer time, peppermint at Christmas time etc

Thank you so much for sharing seems really easy to make . Question where can I find defender essential oils .. and is there another products that is similar to defender if I can’t find it ?
@messymomaholic6499
@messymomaholic6499 7 ай бұрын
Hello there! Defender is a plant therapy essential oil. You can honestly use any essential oil you wish for scent. I chose this one for scent but also because the properties that the oil has! Are you familiar with essential oils at all? I suggest choosing on that has citrus which is a very uplifting scent but also helps cut grease and grime. Citrus oils can also be immune-boosting and give you home that overall clean smelling scent

I’ve been a earching for a good dish washing liquid. Most of them have way too many ingredients or leave a fog or film. I saw your recipe and I am going to try it! I bet it’s awesome. One question though, why baking soda instead of the washing soda others recommended? Any reason? Baking soda has to be better! Nan

I typically use dish soap for other cleaning needs around the house as well as to actually clean my dishes. Washing soda I have heard doesn’t mix well with vinegar. I use a combo of vinegar and dish soap to clean floors from time to time. Plus baking soda is more likely to already been in your home. When I made This video I actually didn’t have a need for washing soda in my home but already had plenty of baking soda

What is the difference between tal water and distilled water. Will the end product be less effective if I just use tap water?
@Mushur0x0r5s0x36
@Mushur0x0r5s0x36 2 жыл бұрын
Tap water is full of pesticides, herbicides, fluoride, chlorine and so on. You don't want that.
@messymomaholic6499
@messymomaholic6499 2 жыл бұрын
Using tap water will work. But I tend to reach for distilled water because we ten to have hard water in our area. When using tap water I find residue buildup at the bottom vs when I use distilled. But if you plan on using the soap quickly or make smaller batches then I don't see a problem

Can I use washing soda instead of baking soda
@messymomaholic6499
@messymomaholic6499 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I believe you can! The only difference between washing soda and baking soda is washing soda has a higher alkaline level and baking soda is more natural. If you use washing soda I would use a little less than the recipe suggests.

Hi I am in Australia,we only have.... baking soda...and soda bi- carb ,I looked it up and found that these are the same just powder form and the other is grainer..

@@messymomaholic6499 No we have both, but the baking soda is called "baking powder" but its all the same.....myself I find the baking powder is milder in reaction to liquids,the soda bi- carb reacts with bubbling and fizing more for a few moments.We find it good in our Anzac Biscuits its a necessary thing, ANZAC biscuits are a oatmeal and golden syrup mix etc ...we Aussies love them...we have a plain pure laundry soap blocks in packet called sunlight soap,we can get pure soap flakes also,I grate up the blocks to make laundry cloths detergent...one small block made 8 liters of laundry liquid,I was running all over the place trying to find plastic containers for it all did not expect so much ha ha ha ha .But I really need dish washing liquid badly so thank you for this idear ...regards all the best.😁🇦🇺

Sal suds is more concentrated than the plain dr. Bonner that's why it's a little more expensive

@frankguetter4854 9 ай бұрын
Does that mean we only need to use half a cup instead of a whole cup if concentrated?
