Thank you so much for all your videos, and for your patient, detailed answers in the comments section. I have the same LG set, and didn't really know how to repair the flow code, so I clicked on ur Amazon link and purchased the vent cleaning tool. It should be here in a few days, so I'm super excited to get cleaning and stop that code from coming up. I'm also glad you showed how you stacked your units because I actually started doing that with mine to make better use of my laundry room. Definitely subscribed, keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for this video. Before purchasing the tool I need to figure out where my dryer vent exits my house. I’m a new homeowner and have lived in this home less than a year. Bought a new LG set and keep getting the d90 code. If the vent exits on the roof I’m going to have to get someone braver than me - meaning a professional - to get up there to clean the vent on the exterior side 😳.

The next time it's cold outside and you run your dryer, walk around the outside of your house and look for the vent. It'll look like the "stream/smoke" exiting your mouth when you exale through your mouth outside on a cold day

I did a duct cleaning like this and was still getting the D80 code (including vacuuming out the lint filter area), so I tried washing the lint filter. The filter didn't look unusually dirty, but maybe the tiny holes were all just a little too plugged up. I haven't had the D80 error since. So either it was a fluke or that was part of the issue.

I just installed a new LG DLE3900 and used new dryer vent tubing. Got the d80 immediately. From inside laundry room I looked up inside the outside vent tube that runs up to roof and saw nothing major. I am going to go up onto the roof and check next.

I have solid metal ducting all the way. I removed the flexible venting (a short 90 degree segment) when I stacked my dryer on top of the washer. You can see that video on my channel too.

did you cut the dryer vent hood outside to fit the leaf blower? I notice no shot of laundry room after leaf blower, mus have been a wreck. leaf blower inside the house blowing outside would have worked better. that what we did. but hey good video
@DIYAroundTheHome
@DIYAroundTheHome 3 жыл бұрын
I cut the hood in an effort to help get the cleaning tool out, it was stuck for a bit. As for the leaf blower I didn't do the best job showing everything I did with it. For example when I showed blowing INTO the house I didn't show footage of my wife with a garbage bag on the other end of the vent. She loosely wrapped the opening of the bag around the duct to catch junk and keep the mess down inside the laundry room. Also I didn't show footage of us blowing from the inside out either which was easier for sure.

Just had a full vent cleaning prior to having a new LG dryer delivered, and got the d80 code on the first use. Pulled the vent off the back of the dryer and put it back on and then got a d90 code. Any thoughts on what might be causing it?

Hmmm, new machine means it's the ductwork. How far away is the outlet vent to the outside of your home from the machine? How many 90 degree bends?

See if you can measure the distance (roughly) and count the number of 90 degree bends then see if you are within spec by looking at the end of your product manual. In mine it lists what are acceptable combos.

Hey can you recommend the dryer duct for new lg dryer? I am getting d90 error after 5-10 min of starting the dryer. Mine is a new home and what could be the problem?
@DIYAroundTheHome
@DIYAroundTheHome 2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be the case but the builder could have made too many turns in the ductwork or the ductwork could be run too long of a length. If you look at the user manual for your dryer it should have details on how many 90° bends and how long of length the line should be. I try and find where the exhaust comes out of the house and then see if you can measure it. Also try to remove blockages from the inside ductwork and then from the outside. Hopefully you can get far enough back that you can get it on both sides. Maybe some construction worker put something in the duct work? Shouldn't be lint if no one's lived in it

@DIYAroundTheHome
@DIYAroundTheHome 2 жыл бұрын
@@sivakonka9405 the ideal duct is straight/flat metal (not ribbed). There are no brands that make anything different than another so it really is a matter of looking at your set up and decide if you need two 90° bends and a straight section (4" duct work is normal size) or some other setup

If it isn't the machine I would have to think it would be the ductwork. Maybe some construction worker stuck garbage in it. Wouldn't shock me. When I regraded and installed an irrigation system in my front yard this last year I found bottles and soda cans and other trash 6 inches deep in the dirt... I ripped open a section of drywall a couple months ago when I had a leak and there were a couple empty cans of Coke in the wall. Sometimes these construction workers get lazy and just throw garbage in the stupidest places. Maybe your duct work is filled with similar crap?

I ran a brush connected to a power drill all the way through the duct and barely any lint came out. Unplugged the dryer for an hour, completely disconnected the hose from my LG and ran the test and it still throws a flowsense error. That should totally eliminate any possibility of duct issues, so what do I do now?

Try cleaning out the lint under the lint trap. Open the front door and pull out the lint trap then look under it Use needle nose pliers or forceps to pull out the lint. Kind of a long shot but worth trying

If it's cold out you could put a load in the dryer and turn it on and look for exhaust escaping the house. It's either on the side of your home or on your roof. In my case I have a flap that closes the outlet when nothing is being exhausted... When I turn on my dryer and air starts coming out the flap lifts up. That's how I identified it
