how about telescopic eccentric hooks for a future project.i want some but am not paying for proper ones.something to be used for squats and benchpress.

Great idea…a couple of options come to mind. The challenge will be making them strong and cheap - since Titan sells them for $99 - i need to strive to make them for much less than $99. I will give this one some thought. 🤘🙏💪

So is your recommendation to not exceed 10lbs per side of the dumbbell with this setup? Also, is there a particular type/brand of dumbbell that this would work best with (I already have weight plates, so I have that part covered)?
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Minimum of 3 mag plate blocks are required to hold a 10LbS plate (4 mag plate blocks is even more secure). I have never tested beyond 10 LBS plates… but definitely would need more than 3 mag plate blocks to hold…. Any brand will work as long as the dumbbell is all metal…. Rubber/urethane coated dumbbells will not work. 🤘🙏💪

Quick? Is the Epoxy Adhesive added in the predrilled hole or the hole that you drilled using the 11/4" fostner bit?
@DesignBuildLift2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brandon! The optional (10:00) epoxy can be applied to either hole (or both). 🙏🤘💪

I've been considering making these myself, but I have a worry. What would happen if you are working in the +50 lbs range and you have to set the dumbbells on your thighs before you start your reps? Have you tried setting heavy weights with magnetic dumbbells on your thighs before hoisting up to start a rep? I find that a little difficult even with the thread sticking out trying to jab me in the leg, lol.
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Great question! I use these when going heavy all the time… but I recommend making a few extras so that you can use 4 magnetic plate blocks per dumbbell side to ensure that the plate will not tilt when placing on your knees before hoisting upward.

@@DesignBuildLift I finally decided to make some but for my weight stack. I didn't drill a recess and simply screwed them into properly sized pine blocks and wrapped them with duct tape, but still works great. Thanks for the motivation.

Nice video. I wonder if a guy could just permanently attach the magnets to the plates and forgo the wood blocks and just keep the magnets on the plates and attach when needed?
@DesignBuildLift2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! You would likely need to epoxy (JB Weld) the magnets directly to the plates if you went that route. You would also have to more careful not to drop the dumbbells because the magnets will likely shatter when sandwiched between the metal plates (whereas the blocks offer some level of protection/cushion for the magnets)…Thanks again for watching!!! 🤘💪🙏
@pryme20132 жыл бұрын
@@DesignBuildLift yeah so was thinking JB welding to the plates. They can still be used easily on a barbell even with the small magnets attached. I’m just wondering if these will hold on the urethane coated powerblocks. They are very flat on the sides at least which is a plus. I never drop the weight so that would be okay
@DesignBuildLift2 жыл бұрын
@@pryme2013 urethane coated? Not sure that will work. I only tested on bare metal. If you try that and it works let me know. 🤘💪🙏

what is the total weight of the magnets themselves?
@DesignBuildLift3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Great question. I weighed 3 mag plate blocks - it came in at 7.5 oz total for all 3
@anthonyanthony284 Жыл бұрын
Why do you need the wood blocks? Why not just get some thicker magnets and use them as is?
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Great question. Rare Earth Magnets do not have two strong sides. Only one side is powerful. The block joins two magnets, so you have a powerful magnetic pull on both sides of the block. Also - rare earth magnets are delicate. Without the blocks, they will break. 🤘💪🙏
