Hello everyone, and thank you for stopping by my channel!
***PLEASE NOTE: If you find the speed of the video too fast or too slow, you can adjust it by hitting this 3 little dots on your screen and adjusting playback speed!!
I have been getting a lot of DM's asking for another simple, beginners wallhanging tutorial, and decided to make this one for you guys. I was mindful to leave a lot of room for the imagination so don't be scared to add your own spin to this one and mix up the pattern, or the knots, cord, whatever your heart desires!
I kept it simple and limited myself to 3 knots for this tutorial, the Larks Head Knot (of course!), Square Knots, and Diagonal Clove Hitch Knots.
If you are new to macrame, or not familiar with those knots, I've made easy to follow tutorials for both the basic knots, as well as one that goes in depth on the diagonal clove hitch knot, AND how to make more than one row of them. I share all of my tips and tricks there so if you're interested here is the link for the Diagonal Clove Hitch knots:
• HOW TO MAKE PERFECT DI...
And here is the link for the 7 basic beginner knots:
• HOW TO: 7 MUST KNOW Ma...
I really love seeing everyone work so please tag me on Instagram @soulful__notions (2 underscores)
MEASUREMENTS:
WIDTH: 12inches/30 cm
LENGTH: 26inches/66cm
Here is what I used:
~3.5mm, 3 ply rope from Ganxxet
~16 cords at 9feet/275cm
~12inch/30cm wooden dowel
My favourite fibre supply company Ganxxet is offering my subscribers a 10% discount site wide!!! Please subscribe and then use code: soulfulnotions at checkout! Here is a link to their site: www.ganxxet.com
I hope you all enjoy this video, many blessing! xo, C.

@@soulfulnotions2648 Then I messed up on one because I ran out of the wooden rod and then the new ones came in in a smaller sized. So, I just started them over and on my way to do two more. Macramé has really kept me busy during this pandemic. My neighbor ordered several tree of life macramé wall hangings for her Christmas gifts. Thanks again for the size project.

Ganxxet doesn’t seem to carry 3.5mm cord. What other size do you recommend? It’s been over 50 years since I’ve done macrame and I can’t wait to get started!

Hi Claire, I think they have renamed this cord recently and it is now their 4mm rope, I’m not positive but I have the new 4mm and it is almost the exact same at the 3.5mm rope used here. But to be sure , I would cut about 6 to 8 extra inches for each cord length just incase it is slightly larger to make up for the extra lengthrequired

I am having trouble finding the 3.5 mm 3-ply cord. Would the same size ropes work for 4 mm cord? I tried 3mm and the wallhanging was way too small.

Yes, all companies cord size varies sooo much! 4mm will be fine, also you can always add more cords to widen it and make it bigger!

Hello! If I were to double the amount of cords, or increase it to 24 instead of 16 (to make the pattern longer), would I need to lengthen the pieces of cord? Would going from 9ft to 10ft work? Thanks!

Yes you can do it with 5mm, I haven’t made it the same cord as you are using so I can’t really say exactly how much more you will have to cut. I would estimate several inches each.

Did you try it with 3mm? It's hard to find 3.5 mm. I'd assume I'd need just a little less cord overall since it's thinner. I'm a beginner though, so I don't want to risk too much!

@@abbeystapleton8594 yes I did. And yes, that was all I could find. I bought off of Amazon. It works fine. I added 4 more cords to what was suggested in this video. I’m just beginning also but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty simple and you can get more creative.
