There is another KZbinr and some web articles claiming you can't build your own device unless you do data only. They claim you need data credits to be "witnessed" for the device to do more than data only. Please clarify, obviously I would be interested in more than data only

However the node is a computer dedicated to connect to the HNT and deploy applications to it (make use of it).. it's not mining (receiving rewards) it's actually using the network protocol.

@@Adamm522 Hello, I think that the developer kit contains components[like sensors] that USE the hnt network rather than mine on it. The sensors transfer data over the Helium network, so you will need data credits correspondingly. To summarise; Developer Kit = Using the HNT network [e.g. GPS / Temperature Tracking etc], pay to use it Hotspot = Helps validate and build out the HNT network, be paid/incentivised for doing so. [Developer Kits will give other people HNT rewards due to the nature of DATA transfer and how it's rewarded in the network]

​@@Adamm522 No, if you use the developer kit then you need to pay for Data Transfer. So you won't get any profit, any HNT you would "earn" is HNT you've already paid for. The best way to increase HNT earnings is a well placed antenna - e.g. In a high up and open area. The antenna strength is also a factor.

@@patricioibarrag I'm only about 12 hours into even knowing what helium (HNT) is, but I'm pretty sure a light spot is just getting gateway access to the network for your own purposes , IoT executions, you would not be Earning (mining) HNT , You need to have a preapproved hardware device with DoC? information from Helium to produce proof of work in order to EARN Coin. However, it does appear that in the future, Milestone 2, that Helium will release the code needed to allow us to use our own devices as HeavySpots? , If you will.
