Hello friends!!! Today I am going to be making a punch needle rug by hand! I've been wanting to buy a tufting gun for so long... but they're just out of my budget. So I decided to try needle punching instead! This method of rug making is SUPER EASY and inexpensive. Hope this tutorial helps some of y'all out! Love the video! I really wanna make one. Next time, if you have a projector you can project the pattern onto the cloth and trace it from that, instead of having to do all the printing and all that. I think you can get fairly inexpensive projectors nowadays. The end product was so pretty! x

If you dont glue the back won’t it just unravel?

No actually! some people glue the back for extra security, but if its done correctly with enough yarn the tension is actually very tight. I can literally YANK on the yarns and they won't budge! I've seen experts on needle punching say that you do not need to glue!

Please start with only a short amount of yarn hanging from the needle (about same length of the loop height). You will just cut off all the excess yarn and it's such a waste. Besides, without the loose yarn hanging, you can easily appreciate the art on the loop side without all the mess made by the unnecessary excess yarn.

what happens when you wash it?

I was asking myself the same question. I googled it and most people say to hand wash it with cold water, or do spot treatment. It depends of the yarn used (or embroidery floss). One person who used embroidery floss from DMC for a needle punch project on a clothing piece and washed it in the washing machine on cold and delicate program. It worked fine. I bought a bath rug made with the needle punch Technic, it didn't end well.
