Made this recipe last night, this morning i woke up it settled all the way down my 2oz shot glass jar. i applied it on my hands, it is so rich and creamy. A few minutes later after i applied onto my hands, my crack (where it was bleeding) went away shortly and it stays on my hands (not greasy kind, the smoothness stays) even after i wash my hands. Can't wait to try to apply on my face tonight when i go to bed. Love your recipes.

I bought tallow that was already rendered/cleaned (not sure the right word lol but its not the fat that I had to break down myself) from a local butcher. I melted it down in a big pot, added lots of water and some salt and simmered it for an hour. Put it in the fridge to allow it to harder, removed the impurities from the bottom and repeated the process 3 times. The tallow is very white and clean looking but still has a faint smell. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? Also I love your channel! Been binge watching for days! ❤️ thanks for all the great info!

@BumblebeeApothecary2 жыл бұрын
Tallow is very shelf stable at room temperature. As long as there is no water in tallow and it doesn't get contaminated, the shelf life is around 6 months to a year or longer. If you want to store it longer yet, or just want to be on the safe side, I recommend keeping it in the fridge or freezer. It will last months in the fridge and forever in the freezer. The same for tallow balm. Hope this helps!

These are all fatty ingredience - not hydrating/moisturizing. True hydration is water. The oils and waxes are for the skin barrier to help fight water loss - works only if you have added water (hyaluronic or glycerin...) to your skin before. Many oils will leave a glossy film on the skin surface. Oils that are absorbed very fast are grapeseed oil for example. But true hydration comes from an emulsion (=water + fat + emulsifier) or from a hyaluronic serum.

It seems funny at first, but tallow actually contains a lot of nutrients that help heal and prevent acne. (Personal experience here, as well as hearing from so many others!) It's antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and provides everything to heal and rebuild skin. The key is to not use too much, a little goes a long ways!
