This is a great way to hand wind yarn if you don't like centre pull for whatever reason. I make my hand wound balls in a similar way, but start it so that it will be a center pull. This video was a great idea to make, Clare.

Bob Wilson 123-Thanks for the tutorial. Should a crocheter or knitter always rewind into a ball all the yarn to be used in a project, like 3-ply or 4-ply knitting worsted? Kindest greetings.
@CrochetwithClare4 жыл бұрын
G'day Zoraida García thank you for your comment, if the yarn is already in a ball and ready to use i wouldn't worry. I only rewind if it is in a skein, also called a hank of yarn. It looks like a huge loop of yarn. They do need to be rewound

I wrap this way as well once a b-ball breaks down. Just a question if you wrap on a yarn winder does it stretch the yarn.? It’s always so tight I’m afraid of it. I owned a ball winder both small and large. This question has always bothered me. Just looking for an answer .
@CrochetwithClare4 жыл бұрын
G'day Sandra Ficara thank you for your comment. Yes if you wind it into cake and the cake is tight it will stretch your yarn, what I do if it comes out really tight i will re-cake it. They say to only cake up your yarn if you are going to use it soon for a project

G'day Mary-Louise Preston thank you for your comment. Bob was my dog, Wilson is after the volley ball in the movie Cast Away with Tom Hanks, 123 was random. Originally it was to sign up to KZbin. Never did I think that anyone would know the username, if for a moment I did I would of picked something crochet related haha
