Your drywall tape thing reminded me that something I learned from a drywall guy along time ago. This guy was remarkably fast. One thing he did. Was he cut his drywall tape to length and then he had a 5 gallon bucket with the mud thinned out and he would dip the tape in the mud and pull it between his fingers to get the excess off, and he ended up with tape and wet mud on it and we just stick it into place and it came out nearly perfect and was incredibly fast. It was a restaurant we built on two bathrooms and he did drywall inside and out the muddying and taping part of it took about an hour, and it looked great when it was done. I’ve tried it and it would take me a whole lot longer, but it works really well, especially if you have a lot to do, but with the shorter strips like that, it would be even easier.

Watching you head lift that drywall brought back bad memories. Before I was aware of Sheetrock lifts, I used a ladder and my head, (along with a now-flat-headed buddy’s help) to install ceiling sheetrock on an enormous ceiling. Regrets for sure and before drywall screws were routinely used. We used drywall nails, overhead! We laugh about it often. Beautiful work on your part.

Wow! I Love your work. You have a rare combination of sound technical skills, know how, and a bold, imaginative, creative flair... you have the goods to make your vision a reality. I admire your craftwomanship so much. I say this as a woman who wants to create just like you. I watched this because I want to build a real hearth surround for a real wood burning stove, using real stone found all over my property. I am inspired by your design ideas - the shape of the entire unit, cabinetry, mantle and shelving is so pleasing to the eye. Great job! Thank you for sharing.

Seriously incredible result. You have another career at Disney with these faux treatments. You should add a faux hearth that sticks out a few inches in front...to give that extra little bit of realism.😉❤

I originally had that plan, but you cannot grout over these panels because of the added weight/lack of adherence.

Have you ever tried the quick setting drywall mud? Just curious if you ever compared it to regular Sheetrock mud. I bet you did good in math class in high school!
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog2 жыл бұрын
Drywall mud sets at different times that are listed on the bag (5, 20, 45, 90, etc). I prefer to use 45, anything quicker usually causes it to dry slightly as I’m still trying to work it because I’m not a professional so I’m not very fast.
