Another nice project. We shared this video (alongside part 1) on our homemade tool forum last week 😎

I look forward to these videos everyday, I'm always rushing to my subscription page and looking for the blue dot! I love the engineering, design, assembly stuff; I'd love to see some more info/videos on the laser adjustments and parameter adjustments and actual cutting content. Thanks so much for documenting the process to make it easier for the rest of the DIY community.

Thanks, I can do something like that in the future and go over more details of setting the parameters

Good stuff. Ive already started on a plasma table to do 5'x10' sheets. Now you got me thinking of going with a laser. So much cleaner than plasma, but so much more expensive.

Have a great time in China! Say 'hi' to Fiona for me, she has been awesome! My laser parts just shipped 😀

Will do!

Ah. It is completely separate laser cutting system. I tough it will be an extension of the existing laser you built recently. But I guess make sense to have it separate. (if one has space and cuts frequently, plus having everything in one machine would probably have some compromises). Interesting build. Cannot wait to see the results.

Fantastic video. Small tip: using a stop will help eliminate human error and speed up cutting extrusions. I'll usually make a L shaped piece out of wood to support the material and provide a place to clamp a stop. This way you only have to measure the first one, and the subsequent will be exactly the same length. My rule of thumb if cutting more than one I'll use a stop. Cheers
@movax20hАй бұрын
The piece of wood works, but another way (I am speculating) is to cut one to length, put second one and align it on the first, by ensuring ends are flush on the left side, and right side touches the blade teeth, then clamp the long piece, and remove shorter piece.

Thanks you’re right, it would have made the cutting much faster

Ohhhhhh, I was thinking this was going to be an addon for your last laser build. 🤣

I know you don’t have the space but a full sheet or even half sheet laser cutter would be awesome!

I would love to, but I don't have the space. Check out Metal Fab Man's (Rob Broomfield) KZbin channel, he's currently building a larger laser cutting machine that you might be interested in: www.youtube.com/@robbroomfield468

I'm building a 5'x5' here in a few months. I'm using a lot of the same components as Travis but I'm going steel frame for a more industrial table. I have most all the components just need to finish a few other projects first lol. I'm planning on doing videos on the build. 1500w MAX, Raytools xc3000, Bm110 head, Ground rack and pinions, 7:1 reducers and Leadshine servos

You should look into something similar like the Mill Connectors from Slotpro NZ ("4 series standard connector 90deg"), they make it very easy to assemble extrusions together rather then using heaps of angle brackets. Roll in Slot nuts also come in handy.
@diyfiberlaserАй бұрын
I just looked them and they do look intriguing, I might have to try them sometime, thanks

That C extrusion is handy. Is that from 80/20 or elsewhere?

Pozdrowienia z Polski.

Hello, my name is Max, I'm from Brazil. I'm doing a plasma cutting CNC. Watching your videos, I changed my mind and I'm going to do it with a laser. I have some questions. I want to do it to cut sheet metal and pipes. Which controller should I use and how many motors? If you can help me, I'll be very grateful. I'm a fitness equipment manufacturer.

I’ve never built a combo machine, just contact SkyFire, they can tell you what controller options you have and motor info…they’re link is in the description

Cut out support knives like those of a Trumpf laser and there won't be any such dots.

Why does watching someone still using a cordless drill to drive wood screws triggers me so much? I’m too dumb to comprehend why people refuse to use impact drivers.
@diyfiberlaserАй бұрын
Haha…I have an impact driver, this one was just closer so I grabbed it
@irritantno9Ай бұрын
@@diyfiberlaser it’s not just you. It’s very prevalent. When I first encountered impact drivers, I was worried my technicians would abuse fasteners with them and contemplated confiscating them. I ended up driving a tapcon with an impact and lost all inhibitions.
