It will seem really weird for us Tracy. For the first time in 10 months and the camera hasn't been switched on today. I wonder how long we can go before we feel the need to do something. We will make sure we film anything big. Thank you for always watching and always commenting Tracy and will see you in a couple of weeks. :-)

Hi Deb I am not sure what a no leak bathroom is like yet Deb hahaha. Each time I do something in there, water seems to pour out of somewhere. At the moment, things seem to be OK, so keep your fingers crossed for me please :-) It is a lovely large basin, really pleased with it. It will be too large for under the stairs when that change happens but it will go upstairs for the family bathroom. Thank you so much for your continued watching and commenting :-)

How I will miss you both but you do need a well earned break and your return will be something to look forward to for us viewers who really wish we were renovating a lovely old Irish farmhouse ourselves, being part of the project is the nearest we'll ever get but huge respect to what you've achieved in only 10 months, you work like Trojans, you certainly made the bathroom fittings look so easy Ben😊 May the weather be kind to you and see you in 2 weeks❤

He’s getting pretty good at the plumbing which is just as well if we put en-suites in up in the bedrooms!🤣 See you in a couple of weeks Pat, fingers crossed for some good weather. X

Success, I can understand why you would want to upgrade the bathroom now already. I can't believe it's only been 10 months, you've done so much already. Hopefully you'll also find many things not to do lol, after that courtyard you sure 2 weeks is enough? Enjoying it all is the most important part, and each other. Can't wait to see you back though.❤
@thecornerhouseproject
@thecornerhouseproject 5 ай бұрын
Good evening Neuton, how are you? Yep, the "bathroom" feels bigger now the new basin and pedestal isn't in there on the floor in the corner. It also feels fresher with the new sink and the bit of vinyl on the floor. There are too many steps needed to be able to get an en-suit upstairs to be able to remove the toilet downstairs and plaster the walls etc, which will become the entire hall again. Two weeks should do it :-) We have really enjoyed today with no big jobs to be done and we have just had a nice day. See you in a couple of weeks and thank you as always :-)

Awww thanks for the shout out guys!!! ❤❤❤ Would 💯 be taking a nice break with you both were it not for our grant. Defo believe rob being sick is from working flat out for so long, it's not healthy. I think taking time out to do a retrospective is a fab idea, were thinking about going back to one vid a week as rob is struggling breaking his work flow to edit (I tried, he is just faster than me) but then we risk building up a backlog again 😭 Moving home is hard, renovating is hard, setting up a homestead is hard, KZbin is hard... Something has to give! Your not alone, and we'll all be here when your back, take care!

No problem at all because it’s soo true! You two just keep going and going! I honestly wish you two could take a break too because wow that’s some amount of work on top of working that you have put in from the very beginning and still going. It is all really hard isn’t it? In the beginning, you have the adrenaline and excitement to feed off but that doesn’t last forever and you’re right all of it is hard and working non stop isn’t great and we really hope Rob gets well soon. The editing takes so long too, Bens had many a night up until 2.30am getting them sorted. Thanks Clare it’s always nice to know you’re not alone x

Hi Walking Stick Woman, how are you? We are really pleased with it. It would have been nice if it was the next size up of 900mm x 900mm but it would have pretty much touched the toilet. The rain shower top is great but not much room to get of of the way of it when you want to get the shower gel going. The nice thing is that has to be what it is but for the en-suite(s) in the bedrooms we know to go with a a larger size and maybe a rectangle too. You live and learn. Have a nice weekend :-)

I am so glad you are taking a couple of weeks off, it is a well deserved break from what started as a 14 day project into a mammoth effort, although I find it hard to believe that Dawn is actually going to stop and rest, Ben I think you will need to take Dawn out and about to stop her from doing something 😂 I think fitting a cat flap will be high on the to do list because anyone with more than one cat knows cats take it in turns to be let in and out 🤣🤣 I will miss your videos but look forward to seeing a well rested Dawn and Ben and eager to follow your next phase. Cat flap is a good idea and strangely we have spoken about that…need to get the cats used to a collar first as need a chip flap or magnetic one as we don’t want pine martins coming in instead hahaha! They are in and out like yo-yos all day long! See you in a couple of weeks and we will try and be rested for when we come back😉🤣 love to you too and see you soonish xxx

Greetings from Calamity cottage motor repairs ! Have to say You're good with the auld plumbing. Easy mistake to make. Least it was only a loose fitting. Glad youz are taking a break from it all . Have some days out and enjoy yourselves. Meant to be sunny next week .. ( believe it when i see it ) Fixed the van eventually , got the right fittings did all the new copper pipe. It took most of the day and lots of practice flarimg the joints Was one slight leak at a compression fitting. Tightened it slightly ........and kinked the new pipe😱. I'll Have to make another one tomorrow. Sigh!! 🙄 But at least now I know it will work 😄 See you soon, Have a rest! .

Good morning Dory, how are you doing and how is blossom watch doing? We will indeed. Today is our first real day of realising we don't need to do anything, we don't need the cameras out and that we can sit, relax and catch up on some KZbin :-) I did wonder if I could hear something and shouted to Dawn "Did you just hear Dory shouting that there is a leak" hahaha. I was quite annoyed, well, very annoyed as I dried it all out with the fan heater before laying the vinyl only to have it soaked in seconds because I am a numpty and didn't check every connection. So all my fault. Thank you for always being with us Dory. See you in a couple of weeks.

Hi, thank you to the response re, stove fan. This video is bizarre today because I have spent most of the day replacing my bathroom sink, I bought a basin from Morocco that I fell in love with. Decided to use an old chest of drawers, painted and sanded back, also a brass tap I fitted. Had to put new legs on it to make it higher. I was determined to do the plumbing myself. So after two trips to the hardware store, my water is still turned off this evening, I left one of the tap pipes in the shop, the trap doesn’t reach , the pipes from the tap isn’t long enough, and the shop has closed. So had a glass of red wine and a sandwich, calling a plumber tomorrow morning, mainly because I don’t speak plumber language, and quite frankly I’m over it. The joys of stubbornness, 😅😅😅😅

This comment has to be put up for a prize somewhere as it is brilliant. The stove fans are spinning well. The big on into the kitchen and the smaller twin fan one sideways towards the door into the hall, hopefully pushing some dry heat that way. Really odd us both doing the same thing. Yours sounds much posher than ours. You bought yours from Morocco, we brought ours from Screwfix hahaha. And an old chest of drawers to is brilliant. It sounded like you had it all under control and then it went a bit wrong. That does sound like my typical plumbing jobs to be honest I still have a IBC tank to connect, I scratch my head and move on to something else. Sorry yours didn't go to plan but love how you are over it hahaha. Hopefully it gets done quickly and you don't end up drinking too much red wine whilst your water is off lol. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and doing such a great comment :-)

After moving from Derbyshire to county Clare 32 years ago, my irony has improved dramatically, I have tiled, painted, reupholster, restored, and tried to teach myself carpentry, gardening, making a garden from a field, and the learning process continues with determination, and I will give it a go Mindset, sometimes I don’t know my boundaries. But I believe giving anything a go, and of course it’s cheaper SOMETIMES 🤪. Have a well deserved break. 😁

Awww. We must admit it will be weird not doing KZbin or much stuff to be honest. The rest will do us good though. Haha, I could spend all day in front of this stove, it is so warm and cosy. Warmer than the old range and lacks the certain smoky flavour of the range too haha. Peach is my lap cat, when she isn't perched on my shoulder. She jumps up and settles down instantly. Steve and Alan like their cat houses still, either on top of them or in them. See you in a couple of weeks Evelyn and as always, thank you so much for always joining us and encouraging us :-)

Haha It saves so much money doing it yourself, we almost wished we’d bought a cottage then we could done all the roof stuff ourselves too, rather than getting someone in. We’re looking forward to coming back raring to go on the restoration side of things! Just got to make a plan! See you in a couple of weeks! 😘

One thing I learned in our house makeover that I think you already know, is that you tend to get use to seeing the rough look. The lack of paint, nail holes, bad floors, and rotten spots that sit in waiting for upgrades and repairs. We did a full bathroom up- stairs and a half bath down-stairs. We lived in the house for 5 years before we got to work on it all. It is a lot of work and a breather is very nice. Restock and enjoy your selves and the three cats.

Good evening to you both. Oh you soooooooo get it. We have grown to love the dry lime plaster always at the bottom of the wall in the hall, the bottom tread on the stairs with the hole in and the door which still hasn't been put back on into the living room haha. We were really good and did everything we planned and needed to do first which was joists and floors, insulation and that was after sorting solar, water and a shower etc and now we can have a bit of a rest. 5 years sounds good to us, a bit here, a bit there and maybe a bit there too. We will get there in the end, we aren't in a rush and funds will allow what they allow. We will enjoy our time off and thank you Laura (I think) for watching and commenting. Also, the cats are loving being outside. See you soon :-)

Wow 20 years! Although I’m not surprised really as I feel like this could take us just as long! It’s just an ongoing thing isn’t? It does take a lot longer when you’re doing yourselves and we can only do so much at once, no matter how much I wish we could clone ourselves to get extra hands it ain’t happening! Hahaha. It’s going to be nice to take a step back for a little while and just get some kind of order of things to be done. Thank you we are definitely looking forward to it! 😊

Hi Cohort, thanks for watching and commenting :-) The walls on the kitchen side are pretty good thanks to the range, but the living room still has the dehumidifier running 24/7. Once a stove is fitted in there though we have high hopes. We are tempted with the same stove we have been loaned for the kitchen. A 12kw monster. Fuel so far has lasted really well, longer than in the dodgy range. So we will be trawling DoneDeal for this model. The cats are great. We don't say it too loud but these are possibly the best cats we have had for character and being stupid. See you in a couple of weeks :-)

Hi. Guys. You so deserve a break! You are both wonderful! I hope you wont be offended if I offer some guidelines to make your renovation easier. This is based on 25 years of being a problem solver and Facilities Manager overseeing 12 large office renovations. 1. Buy a large wall chart with a section for each Month and red and black felt pens. 2. Leave the outbuildings for now. Concentrate on making your home a liveable space. 1. Get your hot water working for shower room and kitchen. If this means installing a boiler then do it. You need these basic comforts. 2. Get your own bedroom sorted, bit by bit. Ceilings. Walls. Useable fireplace. Plaster and painting completed. Floor polished. Rugs down. You will truly appreciate having a comfortable sanctuary at end of hard working day. You could put small sofa in too. 3. Get kitchen sorted, same way as bedroom. You then have liveable comfort while you renovate. 4. Put aside just 2 days a,week to knock unsafe trees,,clear brambles, plant up veg and wild flowers. Its best to stick to your itemised plans. You will get great satisfaction in ticking off each job as its completed! One room at a time. Of course, feel free to ignore me and do your own thing!😅But its much less exhausting to work in an organised way. Best wishes always. ❤️ ❤🎉🎉

@thecornerhouseproject 5 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for this. It’s funny actually as I’ve been threatening s whiteboard from the beginning and have never gotten round to getting one and I mentioned it again last week and Ben said get one, so I think a large wall chart is also a good idea. Not offended in the least, it’s helpful to see down in text and see that we aren’t doing too bad so far. We can’t really leave the outbuildings another year as they might not last another year, you can’t really see how bad they are but they do need fixing asap and we’ve just been waiting for the weather to be good for us to be able to lime point. Also the outbuildings are key to being able to have a more organised storage area enabling us to be able to work more efficiently. Hot water is all sorted, into the kitchen and bathroom. Ben did that a few months back and that was truly a momentous occasion! lol Our bedroom is good enough at the moment and I will think will be the last room to get done bar investigating and fixing the crack in the wall. The kitchen isn’t too bad for the time being. We have all the appliances for basic needs and cooking. All in all we have tons and tons to do but for basic living we aren’t too bad and we will get there eventually with it all it’s just going to take us a long long time hahaha. As of now the house is pretty much liveable just maybe not to most people’s standards but we’re good with that. lol Having said that it would be a lot easier if we weren’t living in here at the same time because we’d be able to just get on with it all but it’s proving a lot more tricky whilst living in it, but we have no choice in that so we will struggle on with it. We aren’t meticulous with plans but we do have ideas of how and what we are to be doing next. We are very much looking forward to the next couple of weeks to get things in order and come back refreshed with ideas of what we will tackle next. 😂

To be fair though, with no big jobs to do, I have fitted a door threshold strip and weather strip at the back door as up until now, the rain was coming under the door and into the kitchen. So already we are doing bits, but the quick bits that aren't projects but you are right, there is no stopping Dawn. We have enjoyed the break already, just one day without feeling like we have to get on with this or that. Dawn said that is a lovely thing to think and thank you very much. Keep an eye on shoes like b&q for end of line tiles etc as we saved there big time. This weather needs to pick up to pick us all up. Again we are full to the brim in the IBC tanks, which is great. I won't be so pleased when we are down to 400 litres and hoping for rain lol. There is always something to be done isn't there. I don't know if this has been covered, but are you guys Irish citizens or do you plan to apply for Irish citizenship, at some point in the future? I am assuming that this is your long term home now. If you're not Irish citizens, does this raise any issues for you, such as healthcare or your ability to work? Sorry if I'm being nosey, I'm just curious, as to how easy or hard, the Irish government make it, for people to move there. Sadly, a lot of us have left our homeland and settled in foreign lands, so it takes a bit of getting used to, the idea that people want to move to, where we left. We left, so we could have more opportunities. However, when we left, Ireland was one of the poorest countries in Europe but now it's the richest - hard to get your head around that one. Good luck to you and your family, I hope the next ten months are better than the first. 👍👍
