from what I saw on your previous trees, your apple trees looked like they needed a good trimming....pruning your trees are important to fruit bearing, at least that's what my grandpa would say....

You might consider also leaving a bathroom on the ground floor. Consider aging in place, accidents or surgery requiring no stair climbing- like for instance knee or hip replacement, fractured leg. And If you ever have to sell, it might help the resale value, etc. love your videos and projects.

The types of sinks made for boats are quite tiny. You might want to look into those for a little corner sink for a small toilet room.

Hi! New subscriber here. After watching your time lapse video, I watched a few of your older ones. Wow, I wouldn't have been able to sleep in a tent for months & shower outside especially during winter 😊 I'm an expat myself living with my family in Ireland (Dublin) so I admire your courage for braving the elements like that👍 Anyway, I think you're a lovely couple and that led me to subscribe to your channel. Wishing you great success with your channel and your renovation 🏡

Just started watching your videos. Must say that after seeing the house tour I was quite surprised how nice you both have made the place without overdoing it. Having done a major renovation years ago, I know how difficult it can be. It’s amazing what you can do without spending loads of money. Good luck to you both and I’ll be watching you from Melbourne Australia Evert

Hi Leta. It isn't ignorant at all. If you haven't seen a video where we explain who he is you can only know by asking, and that is absolutely fine :-) Lukas is our son, now 20. When we moved here in June, he had already made the good decision of going to Canada for five months while we slept in a tent here and got the house to a reasonable, liveable state. He then joined us in November just days after we finished his bedroom. I say finished very loosely. It had a floor, bed and curtains haha. Thank you for asking and watching :-)

I wonder if you considered paneling the bottom hall and upper hall in a wainscot type of panel, another wood working challenge to build skills, plus I think it would go well with the age of the house and think about it you wouldn't have to replaster the entire wall just seal it and a chance to add some insulation behind it. The light in the hallway will be lovely! A nice narrow table to put keys on and with a mirror above and a coat rack to hang your coats on entry. What will you use the space behind the bathroom under the stairs? A narrow broom closet to store the vacuum and such, toilet paper and cleaning supplies, your extra water? Consider a glass type door for the bathroom with opaque glass, allowing light in the bathroom as well, or a port hole window. You might also have a storage room along with behind the toilet for access to plumbing good plan, Will you also get that second bedroom back upstairs near the fire? Great plan! Great job clearing along the house, it is interesting to think that much dirt accumulated since it was built. It always had a space reserved by the stones next to the house. Made for an interesting revealing. I would leave the door off of the 2nd floor hallway so its a straight shot from your bedroom to bath and the 2 windows in the upper hall would illuminate.

Wow. It’s Sunday night EST & you’re almost at !0k subs!! Well deserved. Congratulations on tearing down the wall. Those rainy days have silver linings. Question… how structurally sound is the staircase & the area above where you ended the video? I remember woodworm on the lower steps but what about the rest & the joists above the bathroom? Obviously the stairs are safe enough now but will you have any major structural work in that are? Love you both & congrats again✌️💚
@thecornerhouseproject
@thecornerhouseproject 22 сағат бұрын
Hi Dish :-) I know, 10k is so nuts we can't believe it, we really can't. Very very grateful though. Yes, the rainy days are really handy sometimes when there is something to do inside and the sun isn't shining. The front joist over the front door will need to be replaced as this has suffered but is still in one piece. The rest of the joists are ok. A couple of areas of floor boards have been attacked in the past and we need to do something with the floorboard, again, over the front door as this is the worst. They were all doused with treatment earlier last year and there have been no signs of new woodworm dust, even from the bottom steps on the stairs, which is nice. So the short answer is a little bit of structural work replacing the one joist but other than that, nothing much. Certainly not kitchen or living room scale. Thank you for your congratulations and of course being a great channel member :-)

The fact that you can go back & re-hack the passageway you have missed! suggests the way you have gone is the best to substanciate what your house needs! & what you guys need!.....So many times, People rush things & repeat or amplify the mistakes.... I am so glad you have resisted that temptation (Whether planned or not!)(not that it matters) but you will get a better result because you have had that pause...... Marcus in Pakenham SE or Melbourne....

What a change that curtain has made in the hallway........I know it is tempoary, but that is OK!.... Generally you have done a great job & the mild criticism I had with you initially, was, or seems to be a fault in the camera's you were using.. I have soken to another new Site here in Melbourne about the same thing....... I am not sure, but can find out ther camera used ........In the early days you took us on a local trip around your area! I think to Screwfix & other general suppliers you needed to use at the time & around your general area...... I commented on the mirror image function & the fact your car seemed to change from RHD to LHD during thast filming & I found that confusing..... I think you handled that very well & I think this fellow 'Richmond Woodworks' in Melb. Australia is following that too... I do like what you are doing & support you in those endevours... Your site is coming on in leaps & bounds!....& what you have achieved so far is amazing........ Marcus in Pakenham SE of Melbourne.......

112 comments as I write this one. I don’t blame u for working in side with all the crap weather. One that no is to think well about toilet location as the waste could be a nightmare to relocate. If u can make it to Lisburn norther Ireland that charity shop for builders Habitate for humanity. Is well worth a visit. They will have doors, bathroom suits etc tiles. Ring them to see what they have. U need a front door. If they don’t have one then any plastic window folk will be only to happy to give u an older door some has taken out. The price of materials is mad so I try to save where I can. A good few year ago I did a drain around an old house. We keep the drain 3ft from the wall and put a concret path around the house to trace the water away from the wall. The work Dawn is doing with that paint scrapping that is hard dirty work but that banal paint just kills lime. I’m just need from building more of that wall. I need to buy another 200 blocks and put in 5 more meters of foundation. Taking ages. Maris now want a wee shed built to store stuff soon I have a concrete pad to put in for that maybe tomorrow night. It’s all go.

Opening up that wall has made such a difference! It will be nice to have a little powder room tucked under the stairs. With the natural light that space gets now it would be great for a reading nook, a crafting space or even a little indoor garden. The possibilities are boundless! Love seeing the foundation stones exposed as well. Always enjoyed the look of a solid surface ‘framing’ the foundation of a home. Keep up the great work!

As funny as this may sound to some, I’d love to be there with you because it would be so much fun doing all that demo and rebuilding. I’ve renovated two and built one and miss the work. Our current home, I had to sit back and watch others do the work. And of course none of it met with my approval 😊. When you do the under stairs lavatory will you have to move that window?
@thecornerhouseproject

Hahaha I can totally get that Ed, not owning up to control issues or anything but I would struggle with someone else doing this for us too. I like being able to do it ourselves and we have learnt all sorts of things along the way and like you I would be bored if I didn’t have it to do. It doesn’t sound funny at all to me you wanting to be here doing it too, it’s something that you’ve obviously loved doing over the years, you know the buzz it gives you when it all starts to come together and the pride it fills you with when you stand back and see what you were able to achieve. It makes perfect sense to me! Fingers crossed no with the window because it’s not something that we want to do to the house. If it looks like it might not work we will have a rethink on the toilet area. Hopefully there will be enough clearance at the end of the toilet wall that it won’t encroach on the window of the light coming from it, but we will see as we get to doing it. 😊
