I have watched since the beginning and I would expect that entire house to out last even the Great Pyramids. Lol But he can build anything for me, I would know it was done correctly and will stand the test of time.

@@dotnorton6569 It's so true I've been watching the channel just after it started, they definitely built it to last and it's looks amazing, most houses built now are just generic estate's made as cheap as possible and sold for ridiculous prices.

Super glad when you said bondo work. I would have probably wanted to skip out, but the extra 20+ hours will take it from cool to professional. I'd probably leave the left side ugly that nobody will see to save time, but you are too perfect

@@TKCL It surely is. I fall in the middle as I think I've commented that I'm on the same page as you. Some people half ass jobs and would put up a rusty stair, and another of my friends would use automotive paint, cut buff and polish and not let anyone walk on it. His cabinets and doors in his house are admittedly perfect... in a 1985 tract home.

Loving the build. Those stairs are going to be beautiful. The porta band not only cuts quicker but the cuts are so clean they have to be easier to weld. Looks like you got some new roller stands too. Gotta love Vevor, I hope they sell tons of tools because of their sponsorship.

I also bought the plasma cutter I just saw you using but have not tried it yet. Let me know what you replace the blades provided with the saw with. I've only been cutting aluminium and they quickly lost teeth. But I'm guessing the provided blades are not the best to begin with.
@TKCL
@TKCL Жыл бұрын
I'm still on the original blade after many cuts, but I hear it's not uncommon for teeth to go missing. I just ordered Dewalt band saw blades in. I'll swap one out soon. Please hit me up in a couple of weeks and ask if I have installed one. I don't want to recommend blades that might not fit or not of good quality. I'll provide the link then.

Id say youre doing a good build, just make sure you wrap your corners if you are not going for solid weld all the way around. never stop or start on corners or wraps. Sorry old shipbuilder here damn procedures come to mind lol. also if you get weld distortions you can heater the back side of welds cherry then hit with water to heat shrink the back side and everything will go back. Looks damn good to me

Usually a chop saw will work better with a metal blade on it (a blade made of metal)... :-) The composite blades are okay, but are slower and reduce in diameter while using it... :-)

I've looked at them, I prefer a saw made specifically for them like the evolution.

Couple of things Andrew first wow looks amazing. Will you get rid of your storm shelter now? I mean you guys can get under the stairs and be safer there than in a fall out shelter. Are you going to wait till the next hurricane that comes through??? You may need too and pray it washes up some folks to help carry the thing in place no telling how much all of it weighs. Great video

By letting Ruger stand around & watch your welding, dont you think you will eventually have a blind dog. That's a bummer. He doesnt know "not to look at the arc". Serious question.

It's on my mind, but if you notice almost all my welding was on top and shielded. On the side was also shielded by my body. I keep a close eye on him.

Just curious how you did your lay out for the stair treads? Im building something similar and that is my only hold up.
@TKCL
@TKCL Жыл бұрын
Started with code allowed height and rise. 8 1/4 inches if I remember correctly. Did a manual layout all the way up my beam and made slight adjustments lowering the rise height until all treads were spaced evenly from the top of the landing platform to the floor. It was a tedious process, but made more sense to me than doing the math. I'm a visual person.
