I am not a carpenter, but I am a keen woodworking hobbyist and "Do it your self'er," and I have to tell you that you certainly did a great job there. You made it look so simple, (and I guess it is really,) but a beautiful well thought out job nevertheless. I guess a lot of people will be copying your idea. Thanks for sharing it with us. Ed

Looks great Mrs. April, I've been arguing with my son ( typical 17 y/o ) over the usefulness of a fold down workbench. I had him watch this and he finally agrees with me. Simple yet effective.

I love this fold down work bench. I'm going to make one in my camper as a dining table in my camper. Thank you for being so helpful. You are a unique person, not trying to climb to the top on the back of others but by lifting others up with you to create a money flow which in return will come back to you eventually. Thank you and keep up the great ideas!

Just wanted to let you know my nephew and I just built a very large one for my home business! 68"x42" to be exact. I had to do a few things different to make it work out right, but for the most part I used your way of building it. My wife and I both sat on it and held us. I being 6'4" at 290lbs. and her being around 100lbs at 5'6" That will hold anything I ever need to put on it!

I recently built this work bench. I love how it turned out. I selected it because I loved the overall design, flexibility and simplicity of the design. I purchased the reasonably priced plans from her website. While I found some minor errors on the plans, they were easily noticed and correctable. A couple tips: April's plans call for a work height of around 30 3/4", I think you will find most work benches and kitchen counters heights at 34-36"--a more comfortable work height in my opinion. Also, my garage has 24" on center wall studs. I wanted a 3' wide (wall) by 4' outward bench. In order for me to catch at least two studs I had to adjust the bench width to a minimum of 3 1/2 feet (42"). Great video & design, April!,

I saw this plan last winter 2022. As I have no indoor shop, I had to wait until this summer to build it. I used an oil based stain on it as it will be out in the weather under a roof eave. Great video. I do have one suggestion. It shows you bringing the table down and then attaching the leg brace from underneath. Since I am 80, I merely put the table on the wall and then attached the bar across the legs with pocket hole screws. 😉

It is a given that men and women think differently. Because of this I sometimes laugh at the way you do something like transfer measurements from the wall to the horizontal 2x4 wall attachment using a tape measure instead of just holding it against the wall and continue the marks. At the same time I like the reality of your videos (using your lap when drilling the holes instead of using a table or sawhorse), most guys would make it a point not to show that but quite a few of us have done it that way too. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next video.

If I build another work bench my wife will give me away as I have done with 4 perfectly good 4x8 foot benches built in the last two years, where each was an improvement on earlier benches... I keep hearing her words " you (me) need to downsize the stuff in the garage!" So I donated the lathe, table saw, dust extractor, drop drill ,baby band saw other odds and ends to a nearby mens shed and then joined the shed. Meantime we are still unable to park two cars in a three car garage!! Guess whose car is left in the driveway? Doh!

I built an awesome fold down table in my 1 car garage. Used a very heavy wood desk top for the table and I designed a great hinge system since it was very heavy. It sat flush against the wall and took up virtually no space. I debated about removing it when I moved, and now I regret it. The solid desk top made was rock solid. I guess the current owner got an excellent table out of the real estate deal.

Nice project April.. I modified your design to build an ammo reloading table in my new shop. I framed a "window" in the wall and used the space to hold dies and other reloading components. Then when the workbench is folded up, it covers that window. When I gave our kitchen a remodel a couple years ago, I saved some of the old cabinets and so I installed one of the cabinets on the wall over the workbench to hold my press. Thanks for the inspiration.

I built one of those in the late 70s that would fit over a deep freezer. It was in the walk out basement of my condo. I filled the inside with pegboard to handle the most often used tools. The floor space was tiny but suddenly there was room for a freezer and a work surface with tools. I was sorry to leave it when we moved but it had impressed the buyer enough for a higher price.

Love you're channel April. Made this table (190x110 cm) myself this month. Great space saving if you have a single garage. Greetz from the Netherlands

EXACTLY what I needed. You make things look so easy, but this one actually was easy. THANKS

Super cool project! If you made the legs weighted so they always stayed perpendicular to the floor when you're lowering it, you could probably also add a shelf for things between the two legs, so you'd have a shelf on the wall for stuff, and a shelf you could still have when the table is lowered too!! I also had the idea of making two lowering tables like you have, but back-to-back, and on a portable cart. You could shove it in the corner when you don't need it, and move it wherever you want when you've got a project. SO many possibilities with your great design!!

Well done tutorial! The perfect solution for me to add a work table over a chest freezer in an otherwise very crowded shed.

This is SO perfect. I was trying to design my own since I recently refinished my garage for a wood shop but also wanted to be able to pull my car in during the winter. Thanks so much!❤

Great project. Very well demonstrated and easy to understand. I am redoing my workshop and this is going to be part of it. Brains and Beauty....what a combo.

Very slick. Love the shout out to Izzy, just recently saw some of his stuff online. If I had any wall space left in my ridiculously crowded shop, I would build this just for the fun of it. Maybe in my next place...

I freakin' love it... so many KZbinrs assume that you're a master carpenter. This is something me, and average Joe, can do without turning it into an expensive project. Cheers!

I bought the excellent plans and built the bench. Easy project, and a VERY nice addition to my Automotive Service Bay/Wood-shop otherwise known as my garage!
