Way better than using coil spacers. These buicks really benefit from a lift, I was constantly bottoming out my Park Avenue on parking lot dips.

So I gotta tell you this story. When I was in highschool my best friend at the time had a 67 Chevelle SS project and we took 2 cars and stripped them down to the frames and built one good car. He was too cheap to buy a lift kit and too impatient to do it right. He hammered wood 2X4s into the coil springs. It worked fine for a while until he was flying down a country road and hit a bump and caused the right rear 2X4 to dislodge throwing his car towards the ditch. He hit a culvert and flipped the car end over end more than once landing on his wheels. He had to use his legs to push the roof up enough for him and his passenger to get out. They both had only scrapes and bruises. I still remember driving down the road and seeing it on a roll back being hauled home. Of course I followed to check on my friend. I was in utter disbelief to see him get out of the roll back along with his passenger. I don't know how he did it. I stopped counting after 13 vehicles that he rolled. Dude has more lives than 5 cats lol.

I have some friends like that. One in particular I cringe every time he gets a nice car because I know it's only a matter of time. He doesn't usually roll it, he just bumps into everything around.

Hey LUKE , Great video ... !!! A little tip... A while back i had one Chevy & one Ford truck both with trans hesitation engaging in gear & also slippage ...I heard about this stuff called TRANS X , Added it to both & made a difference ...It fixed the Chevy outright , but it actually took TWO bottles to fix the Ford ... I believe the Ford had a bigger transcase & just required more to make the mixture proper , but it did work for both trucks ...Especially in a vehicle that's been sitting for aehile where the clutch plates have dtied out , seems to recondition the to want to stay wet & work better .. Only my own experience with my own Two very different trucks with positive results...

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that out. I think I saw it at Walmart.

That particular Buick has 2 or 3 solenoids in the transmission that can sometimes fail when they get hot. They’re not too bad to replace, you can actually get to them through the driver side wheel well with out dropping the Trans or pulling the engine, you might have to pull the half axle I don’t remember. I bet that fixes your transmission studder though. It’s a pretty common problem on those old 3800’s.

Yeah buddy. Don't set them on the ground. Been looking for mine since 94. Camo tape measure nice until you measure the grass disappears on u ever time. Grampa found a camo gun in yard and set it down lost it that fast owned it 30 minutes was a Thompson sub. It was Tommy's. Lol. Good video it looks good and doesn't have worry about dragging like them other stock little foots. Go where no Buick gone before.

How much ground clearance did the lift and tires add?
@lukeFugate
@lukeFugate 9 ай бұрын
It was about 4 inches of lift. I've had no problems dragging since.

What vehicle did you get the updated sway bar from?
@lukeFugate
@lukeFugate 10 ай бұрын
It is a Dorman part made for this car. I got it from Amazon. It is a solid steel bar instead of a tube. It is also a little bigger diameter. Here is a link to it amzn.to/3TpAQgH

@@lukeFugate That's awesome, thank you Luke! I love these cars but hate how they handle curves. Perfect solution.

Is looking good too. Did you look into getting a different strut? Maybe from a minivan or a compact suv? Great job. 👏 Merry Christmas!🎄

Thanks, I am liking the look! I couldn't find any that were for sure compatible. I did see where you can get a set of extended ones specially made, but they are crazy expensive. They did have the spacers to put on top of the struts, but that wouldn't fix my tire rubbing on the strut issue. Merry Christmas to you as well.

Looks good. Folks are going to think you're driving a 4x4 Buick. I hope the welds are really good, though! Looking forward to an even weirder Buick :)

I think it will hold up. I may drill through it where the original top hole is and put in an extra bolt just in case. It will probably get some looks when I take it out lol.

235 75 15 after the lift I could probably go a little bigger, but these are enough for this car.
