I was looking for tutorials on how to paint (or use glow in the dark stickers) realistic star constellations on my ceiling, and basically expected a huge amount of plannong, measuring and using star maps. I had no idea a stencil oike this existed, thank you so so much for this video.

You are welcome. This is a really easy project and doesn't take too long. I have used this set 3 times now and each time the ceiling turns out great. Way better than the stick on stars! Best of luck to you.

Would you see them with the lights on/how do u think it would look on a navy wall?
@BooneDownSouth4 жыл бұрын
Sheena, If you put this on anything other than a white ceiling you will definitely see it. On a white ceiling you don't notice, but you can see it if you know what you are looking for.

Love your video, can that paint be deluded to use it in an air brush?
@BooneDownSouth3 жыл бұрын
Dj I know it can be deluded, because you can delude it in order to lighten the color and to make the glow period not last as long. For a star scape, it can give you a wider range of brightnesses. I don't know what the effect would be if it was deluded enough for an air brush though.

@@BooneDownSouth I was think of using an air brush to form a plasma cloud them use bright white for the stars. Unless, I can leave it undiluted and use some type of tools to soften the look of the cloud.
@BooneDownSouth3 жыл бұрын
@@DjIsaacsOfficialSite Yea I actually just diluted some in a small cup with water and then just used the small paint brush for the lighter colored stars. You might be able to to something similar and use a cotton ball or something dipped in to diluted water to make the cloud too if you can't dilute enough for the air brush.

So did you do this on a white ceiling or a black ceiling ? I was thinking of a dark blue ceiling.
@BooneDownSouth2 жыл бұрын
I have only done it on white ceilings. The paint glows in various colors but you don't notice when the light is on when its applied to a white ceiling. If you put it on a dark blue ceiling, you will see the stars in the daytime as well.

@@BooneDownSouth Thought so....probably semi-transparent as well...I might paint stars then put glow paint on top of that. Thanks

This is awesome, but I'm not sure I understand what the stencil is for if you're hand-painting each star anyway? Not criticizing, genuinely curious because I wanna do this to my room! But couldn't one just dab it on intermittently without the stencil...?
@BooneDownSouth3 жыл бұрын
@SalemRose503 - So the stencils actually mark out where the stars go to match the western hemisphere. You can actually orient the stencil to match the sky if you want to. If you didn't want to match the sky and have the constellations where they are supposed to be you could simply just randomly dot the ceiling. Also the stencil has different sized holes as well so your stars are different sizes which show more variation once the lights are out. I typically use the stencil to match the stars with all the constellations, then I go back with smaller dabs and fill in more stars and add a few comets. If you want to get really fancy you can vary your color of glow in the dark paints as well. Hope this helps!
