Watch while we make our own grass-fed beef liver capsules! Beef liver is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. It is truly nature's multivitamin. However, a lot of people have trouble eating it due to it's taste. Putting the liver in capsules is a great way to consume more liver without having to taste it. In this video we make our own and do a cost analysis on DIY liver capsules compared to liver pill supplements on the market. Give it a try yourself and let us know how it goes!
Here is a great breakdown of all the nutrients in beef liver: ndb.nal.usda.gov/fdc-app.html...
Here is a link to the capsules I mentioned in the video. We are Amazon affiliates so do make a small commission, but it doesn't cost you anything.
00 capsules (5=1 tsp): amzn.to/363Ph0S
0 capsules (6=1 tsp): amzn.to/3m8FADZ
Also, here is a link to our awesome dehydrator :) amzn.to/33hAf5S.

You could definitely take it with a teaspoon, but one of the points of going through the grinding and dehydration process is so that you don't have to taste it. If you don't mind the taste of liver, it might be better to eat fresh or just dehydrate thin pieces like jerky. It's less work that way ;)

I made some liver jerky. Used the same method I use for beef jerky. Soaked it in a mix of salt, lime juice, liquid smoke, coconut aminos, hot sauce and water. Dried it on my Nesco. Looks like jerky, but it starts breaking down and dissolving as soon as it goes in the mouth. So disgusting🤮. It's worse than just eating cooked liver. Lol! I need to grind it all up and put it into capsules.

Is there a way to dehydrate the liver or do I have to get that machine
@ancestralevolution
@ancestralevolution 3 жыл бұрын
You can dehydrate liver in the oven. However, most ovens only go down to 170 F or so. Dehydrating at such a high temp can cause loss of some of the heat sensitive nutrients you are trying to preserve. If you dehydrate on any kind of regular basis, I think it's worth it to invest in a dehydrator. Just my 2 cents ;)

I love organ meats as I grew up on the farm,but by kids not so much.I have been dehydrating liver many times,but always at 165° as I have around 10 lbs at once.Is dehydrating st 110 ° safe?I mean,we didn't have a fridge for many years,and nobody died 😂. Also,I always wash my liver and soak it in vinegar overnight per my grandma's advice.She told me that no matter how clean of a diet an animal has,organs will have toxins,especially liver and kidneys.
@ancestralevolution
@ancestralevolution 2 жыл бұрын
We dehydrate at 110 F all the time and have had no issues. USDA of course will tell you different. I advise to use your judgement. It's actually a myth that liver stores toxins. Toxins are usually stored in the fat of the animal (if fat soluble) or in the muscle (if water soluble). The liver's job is to produce enzymes that help break down/metabolize toxins, but toxins are not actually stored there.

If you boil liver, you will lose quite a bit of the water-soluble vitamins and mineral. Instead, I would try sauteing in some grass-fed butter.

@@ancestralevolution Thank you for responding. I see everyone saying you should freeze the organ for 14 days prior to dehydrating. Do you recommend this process?

I got 53grams after dehydrating for 2 days maybe from around a pound. Any idea why mine shrinked so much?
@ancestralevolution
@ancestralevolution 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure about that. Are you sure you started with a pound? Did you lose a bunch in the blender? Every time I've done it, I've ended up with about 1/3 of my starting weight after dehydrating.

@@ancestralevolution Interesting. Not sure. I checked the dehydrator temperature and was surprised to find out it hit 53°C even though I set it to 43°C! Might be the high temperature then I guess

Perhaps it was more watery than other liver brands maybe they injected it with water like they do with chicken etc?

Should eat liver tabs for 3 days in a row, then bitters for 4 days, ... Yin and yang.

Interesting. I need to do some more research on bitters.

Here's a cheap source of dehydrated liver: buy organic dried beef liver dog treats! Pulverize them and encapsulate yourself !! You then dont have to buy a freeze drier or dehydrator.
