When growing up in the fifties we ate liver a lot, almost once a week I think. It contains iron, but was found to be high in cholesterol so we were told not to eat it. I love liver and onions when I can get it in a restaurant. So far I’ve had no heart problems and neither my sister or brother has either. Wish they could rethink this, as they did with eggs.

Me too, I remember more organ meats in childhood. The cholesterol myth needs to be revised-dietary fat and cholesterol do not cause heart disease when these are taken into account: carb ratios, grass fed meats, PUFA fats, trans fats, processed food additives, glyphosate, heavy metals, feedlot type animals, GMO, mineral deficts, EPA and DHA fats to offset omega 6 oils, processed seed oils, and more. Eat fat and cholesterol and restrict the crap for a good heart and brain!

I completely agree with you. Im 40 but come from a long line of anemia and b 12 deficiency. While pregnant with hat hot menu. Top notch shape and kept me very healthy and as well eating organ meets. I mostly ate chicken and beef liver in tacos with sautéed salted onions guacamole, radishes and cilantro. Mmm still my face and never have I or my baby girl who I've accustomed to eat organ meats mixed with our animal meats or by them selfs in tacos. We've never had any issues with cholesterol and neither has my maternal grandmother who use to get b12 shots in Mexico often. She's now 90 and still supplementing when she can

On my father’s side of the family we’ve always had goat and cow heart, liver, brain, kidney, trotters and less often lungs and even testicles! Since heart disease was rampant on that side, it fell out of favour. In hindsight it was probably the lack of exercise and the carbohydrates to be blamed, so we’ve reintroduced those foods as monthly or bi monthly treats.

I am animal based. I ate a slice of ox heart for the first time yesterday. Wow, it was the cheapest steak I'd ever had lol. Admittedly I wasn't looking forward to it, but thought it best to try it before dismissing it. I was really pleasantly surprised. I fried it in pure Irish butter and sea salt, and accompanied it with 2oz of beef liver. Delicious. I'm from N.Ireland and so this is in £, but it is superbly inexpensive. I got a pack of ox heart for £2.50 ($2.80 approx). I got 10 slices out of the pack, so 25p per serving. My beef liver is also only £1 per pack, also providing 10 servings, so last night's meal was a fantastic 35p. 😊

I gave birth via c section a few days ago. I found out about the carnivore diet while I was pregnant. I was really keen to try it, but thought it wise to rather start after I had my baby, since I wasn't fat adapted. I feel like so much damage has been done to my body because of the c section operation, so I hope a carnivore diet will heal my broken body. I actually ate raw liver on one occassion when I was pregnant and loved the taste of it. Great and informative video.

I was getting sick and developing stones in spite of how "good for me" the stuff I was eating. Having an extreme diet is a mistake IMO. Organs, meats, berries, roughage, glyphosate free carbs, GOOD fats. They all need to be there. Deciding to live on only 1 or 2 kinds of food is asking for health issues.

I just orderd a beef organ supplement. Containing liver/heart/spleen/kidney and pancreas. I have been dealing with anxiety for over 3 years and i got into the trying to find a solution for it. Most of it is mental ofcourse because we have to change the response to our symptoms. But i have noticed that magnesium chloride oil on the body helped with my palpitations. And discoverd that alot of people are magnesium deficient and that when stressed our bodies use op alot of magnesium making the stress worse. I have tried beef liver supplements but never realy stuck with it. I am trying to form a habit taking them but i open the capsules and stir it in to my yogurt with some fruit and nuts. Hope it will fill the gaps of my vitamins i might be lacking

You can test for fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K1 and K2 and find out. Its not common, and usually pregnant women are the most affected rarely. it requires about 100,000 IU of vitamin A daily for 6 months to be a problem in the literature. most people eat meat products to satiety and their body stops them when its enough or too much.

If organ meats are so good for us, why did god make us hate the taste so much? How come we have no instinct to eat organ meats?
@emilianozapata175
@emilianozapata175 Жыл бұрын
A good question. However, some people in the nutrition world have said that this low desire for the taste has been due to it being restricted from our diet for so long. Perhaps the sheer amount of sugar or chemicals in our standard diets have contributed to the decline in our more natural cravings. I for one enjoy the taste of certain organ meat from certain animals, but maybe not from others. That's interesting to me. I spoke to my sister recently, who is a vegan, and she was telling me about people having different taste reactions to coriander. Her taste to it is different to mine. I found that when I used to eat it, it tasted soapy and perfumed, but she tastes it differently. It shows how each individual's make up is different in many ways. There's my own sister, from the same gene pool (supposedly lol), yet completely opposite in so many ways. The world order of things would probably like us to call one another disordered for being different to their ideals, but it simply comes down to who we are as individuals. The division that has been intentionally placed among differing nutrition communities astounds me, when the fact is, it's totally distracting from the actual evil of 'Big Sugar'.
@TheHumanCondition

Very interesting thread here. I think when animals eat organic, clean, omega 3 rich and mineral rich healthy plants the organs and skeletal muscle (steaks and chops) taste totally different and smell different. I think organs are the sentinel tissue warning us that an animal was fed poorly if it was-and that repels us. Chickens that are not organic taste like crap, but the organic ones are magical. I have an instinct to eat foie gras and most clean organs, but I am repelled by factory farmed animal organ meats.

Just recently I started again but taking a probiotic with food derived digestive enzymes to help me out once in a while when I fall off the wagon with the diet that works for me. Other than that I have not had to resort to digestive enzymes and can digest the organ meats very well without the enzymes now. Keep a dietary nutritional journal so you can see what works and what doesn't work. Working along with a naturopath MD to help you out on your healing path helps a heap too. I when can a micro nutrient test helps further more. Hope you get close to resolving your digestion delima soon. Blessings.
