DIY Guide: 2015 Kia Soul Lower Ball Joint Replacement!

When a friend asks you for help, you gotta help.
In this episode, we will be replacing the front lower ball joints on a 2015 Kia Soul.
We were unable to find any videos on youtube that covered this kind of ball joint replacement on a KIA, so we really hope this helps someone out!

Just replaced a right front lower ball joint on a 2012 Kia Sportage. I was able to use a pickle fork to get the ball joint out of the knuckle but I had to upgrade to a 40 oz hammer to get the ball joint off the control arm. Definitely recommend MAP gas and a very large hammer to anyone doing this. Almost lost my cool there and was gonna burn the car to the ground, Almost.

haha yes they do! I dont always use them, sometimes too powerful, but then again, sometimes you do need them!!

Is it necessary to take the caliper and brake bracket off to get this done?

That's only 4 bolts and you get plenty more room to work with.

If you think this design is bad you should see the more common design where the ball joint is press fit into the control arm itself. This way at least gives you a fighting chance without having to do the A-arm (it was gonna be $329 for just one for me) or get a ball joint press.
