Very nice! It's a toss up, but I think I like the light color more. I think just a varnish would have darkened it a little. Beautiful either way! It's great that you did it all with relatively cheap sanders and epoxy and showed that most people can do it with what they have.
@marmotaworks
@marmotaworks Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Before staining it, I tried using only varnish at a scrap and I didn't like it. But to be honest, if I had to do it again, I would probably use a slightly lighter stain, like oak.

Really love your stuff. It’s original and breath of fresh air after watching everyone doing same things over and over. Love the brilliant colors. It’s not in your face but catches your eye in a pleasant way. WHAT DO YOU USE TO COLOR YOUR EPOXIE IF YOU DONT MIND ME ASKING?

@Marmota Works plus its sustainable and all that jazz, so high on the list of what people look for in products nowadays. Essentially you can make the coffee stain as dark or as light as you want it, just depends on how you strong a pot of coffee you make or what type of roast you use.

@@marmotaworks I thought it looked like pine! Turned out fantastic, I really like your work and am learning a lot from watching, top notch content. I'm giddy today, because I was just talking about how hard it is to find cherry to work with( I look for extra or unwanted logs that aren't too large the same way you do) and the tree service just dropped off a lot of PERFECT seasoned dry red cherry at my buddies house for firewood and I get plenty of it for free. A good day indeed!!! Thanks again for the tutorials, loving it and working my way into the shop fulltime, woo

This is very much a Marmota table except for the stain, which makes the wood look blotchy and greyish. A lighter stain might've had a different effect.

Working with epoxy of different colors is complicated. They blend together during curing process and there is nothing to do about it...

Overall I like the idea but it was much better before you stained it. The stain brought out the wood grain too much and then it detracted from the colored epoxy.
